Lilly King Wins Gold, Beats Russian Rival Yulia Efimova in Women's 100m Breaststroke!

Lilly King pumps her fist into the air to celebrate winning gold in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke final during day three of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Monday (August 8) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 19-year-old swimmer beat out her Russian rival Yulia Efimova, who took home the silver medal. USA’s Katie Meili won bronze in the race.

Lilly went viral earlier in the day because of a video of her shaking her finger at Yulia, who was caught doping and served a 16-month suspension that ended last year.

Another big moment for the USA women’s swimming team was when Kathleen Baker won the silver medal in the Women’s 100m Backstroke final!

US Swimmer Lilly King Explains Finger Wag at Russia's Yulia Efimova

USA Swimmer Lilly King put Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova in her place during the 100-meter breaststroke semifinals at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Sunday (August 7).

“Basically, what happened this morning was that I finished and then I waved my finger a little bit, because that’s kind of how I am. Then tonight just now Yulia got done with her swim and I am watching in the ready room – and there she is there shaking her finger. So then I got done and I beat her time so I waved my finger again. People probably think I am serving it up a little bit but that is just how I am,” Lilly explained to USA Today. “You’re shaking your finger number one and you’ve been caught for drug-cheating. I’m just not a fan.”

Yulia served a 16-month suspension which ended last year, and then was caught doping again this year, though that was overturned.

The final race for the 100-meter breaststroke will be happening tonight.
