'Marco Polo's Lorenzo Richelmy: 5 Things to Know About Netflix's New Star

The highly anticipated original series Marco Polo premieres on Netflix today and we are currently crushing on the really hot star, Lorenzo Richelmy.

The 24-year-old actor has been acting for years in his home country of Italy, but this is his first major role in an American production.

Find out more about Lorenzo below!

He didn’t speak English when he was offered the role: “I was terrified,” Lorenzo told Reuters. “Language is one of the most important things for an actor, so I worked a lot to learn.”

He is in a relationship: “My girlfriend and I Skyped every day while I was filming around the world,” Lorenzo told Glamour. “It was beautiful to understand that two people can be together without living together every day. It’s much better than a relationship where one person lives for the other.”

He didn’t know what Netflix was: “The first time they told me it was Netflix, I said ‘I wish it was HBO,’ Lorenzo said. “And then I realized it’s much better.”

He got his start on the stage: “I was four,” Lorenzo told People magazine. “I was the son of the main actress, who was actually my real mother, and I just had to get onstage and say, ‘Here’s the chicken!’

He’s going nude for the show: “Totally nudity, yes, but not frontal,” Lorenzo told ET Online.
