Matangi/Maya/M.I.A. was directed by Stephen Loveridge, and follows M.I.A.‘s journey as both a musician and a political activist for the Tamil people in her native Sri Lanka.

Stephen, who attended art school with M.I.A., documents the artist in the film. It’s described as “a nuanced and intimate portrait of a woman finding her roots, voice, and stardom, and a deeply personal statement from a pop star yearning to express herself.”
