The co-stars chatted up the revival of their hit, fan favorite show.

“We wanted it to be the things that it always was, which was funny, No. 1; about something we give a s— about; and that it had that tension between how beautiful love can be and how hard it can be to love someone. That tension is the show,” Helen said, via Variety.

“We had to keep in mind who we’re doing this for,” Paul added. “I don’t know if anyone who didn’t watch the original will watch this.”

Helen also talked about the first episode and the opening scene of the revival.

“I thought, if I do the first one, something will be lost because there will be one less set of eyes and I’ll be doing a bunch of jobs, but something will be gained, too, because I’m a detail freak,” she said. “And the details of the first episode matter: the first shot we have is the things [Mabel’s] taking to college, and I stole some things from my daughter’s room and made sure they aged the guitar. I care about all of that in a way that maybe somebody else wouldn’t care as much.”

The 23-year-old actress has signed on to star opposite Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser in the upcoming revival, limited series of the hit 1990s NBC comedy headed to Spectrum Originals, Deadline reports.

Abby will be playing Mabel – the daughter of Paul (Reiser) and Jamie (Hunt) Buchman.

The revival will explore the marriage of the Buchmans as new empty-nesters after dropping their unpredictable, hard-to-control daughter Mabel off at college.

Mad About You aired on NBC from 1992-1999. The revival doesn’t have a premiere date yet.

The American sitcom, which ran from 1992 to 1999, may be brought back for a limited run. Informal talks have reportedly begun between Sony and the show’s leads Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt, according to TVLine.

The new episodes could potentially revolve around Paul and Jamie grappling with empty-nest syndrome.

Paul recently teased that concept while doing promo for Stranger Things 2.

“If we can find the story to tell, and anybody’s interested, I’d be open to it…to me, it’s interesting when I see my kids are growing and leaving the house. It’s like, ‘Oh.’ It’s like that moment when you get married. It’s like we’re in a new world that we don’t know the rules of,” he told People.
