Madonna Clarifies Adoption Rumors: They 'Are Untrue'

Reports surfaced today that Madonna was in Malawi applying to adopt two children, but now the superstar is disputing those reports.

“I am in Malawi to check on the children’s hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi and then heading home,” the 58-year-old superstar told Just Jared in a statement. “The rumors of an adoption process are untrue.”

Malawi government spokesman Mlenga Mvula had apparently confirmed the reports that Madonna was in front of a judge and awaiting permission, but it appears as if this is not the case.

Madonna has four children: Lourdes Leon, 20, Rocco Ritchie, 16, David Banda, 11, and Mercy James, 11.

People was first to report the news.

Madonna Applies to Adopt Two More Kids From Malawi, Africa

UPDATE: Madonna is now saying the rumors are not true — read the full statement.

Madonna has applied to adopt two children from Malawi in Africa.

The 58-year-old entertainer appeared in court today in the Malawian capital Lilongwe to apply, the AFP confirmed.

Madonna is mom to two other kids she adopted from Malawi: David Banda, 11, (who she adopted in 2006) and Mercy James, 11, (who she adopted in 2009). In addition, Madonna has two other children Lourdes, 20, and Rocco, 16.

Madonna was in a bit of hot water over the weekend after making comments at a Women’s March saying she wanted to blow up the White House.

Madonna Clears Up Women's March Comments About Blowing Up The White House

Madonna has taken to social media to clarify some of her recent remarks.

The 58-year-old entertainer gave a speech during the Women’s March in Washington D.C. in which she told the crowd that she’s “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”

She’s now clearing up those comments.

“Yesterday’s Rally. was an amazing and beautiful experience,” Madonna wrote on Instagram. “I came and performed Express Yourself and thats exactly what i did. However I want to clarify some very important things. I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it’s important people hear and understand my speech in it’s entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context.”

She continued, “My speech began with ‘I want to start a revolution of love.’ ♥️ I then go on to take this opportunity to encourage women and all marginalized people to not fall into despair but rather to come together and use it as a starting point for unity and to create positive change in the world.”

“I spoke in metaphor and I shared two ways of looking at things — one was to be hopeful, and one was to feel anger and outrage, which I have personally felt,” Madonna continued. “However, I know that acting out of anger doesn’t solve anything. And the only way to change things for the better is to do it with love.
It was truly an honor to be part of an audience chanting ‘we choose love’. 🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸 #revoltutionoflove♥️#revolutionoflove♥️***”

Amy Schumer Dresses as an Astronaut at Women's March, Joins Jessica Chastain & More!

Amy Schumer and her friends showed up to the 2017 Women’s March on Saturday afternoon (January 21) in Washington, D.C., in full NASA attire!

The meaning behind the 35-year-old comedian’s outfit choice isn’t exactly clear.

Amy met up with Neil deGrasse Tyson for an interview the other day wearing the same outfit, explaining to him that she wanted to be prepared for any situation. She could be trying send a message to new President Donald Trump about NASA. Or, she could just be reminding the world that women can be astronauts, too.

Amy was joined at the event by Jessica Chastain, Chloe Moretz, Madonna, pregnant Amber Tamblyn, and more. Head to our gallery to see the pics!

She also ran into Lena Dunham and captured the amazing moment below.

Madonna Has a Message for Women's March Haters: 'F--k You'

Madonna gave a fiery speech to the people at the 2017 Women’s March and she had a message to critics of the event.

The legendary entertainer gave a performance of her songs “Express Yourself” and “Human Nature,” but she spoke to the crowd before she sang.

“It seems as though we had all slipped into a false sense of comfort — that justice would prevail, and good would win in the end,” Madonna said. “Well, good did not win this election. But good will win in the end.”

“To our detractors, who say this march will not amount to anything, f–k you,” Madonna later said. She repeated “f–k you.”

Madonna: 'I've Always Felt Oppressed'

Madonna is iconic on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s February 2017 issue, on newsstands January 17.

Here’s what the 58-year-old superstar had to share with the mag:

On feeling oppressed and living an unconventional life: “I’ve always felt oppressed. I know a lot of people would go, ‘Oh, that’s ridiculous for you to say that. You’re a successful white, wealthy pop star,’ but I’ve had the shit kicked out of me for my entire career, and a large part of that is because I’m female and also because I refuse to live a conventional life. I’ve created a very unconventional family. I have lovers who are three decades younger than me. This makes people very uncomfortable. I feel like everything I do makes people feel really uncomfortable.”

On the election results and president-elect Donald Trump: “On election night I was sitting at a table with my agent, who is also one of my very best friends, and we were truly praying… It was just like watching a horror show… I went to sleep, and since that night, I wake up every morning and it’s like when you break up with somebody who has really broken your heart. You wake up and for a second you’re just you, and then you go, ‘Oh, the person I love more than anything has just broken my heart, and I’m devastated and I’m broken and I have nothing. I’m lost.’ That’s how I feel every morning. I wake up and I go, ‘Wait a second. Donald Trump is the president. It’s not a bad dream. It really happened.’ It’s like being dumped by a lover and also being stuck in a nightmare.”

On censorship, equality, and sexual expression: “I believe in freedom of expression, I don’t believe in censorship. I believe in equal rights for all people. And I believe women should own their sexuality and sexual expression. I don’t believe there’s a certain age where you can’t say and feel and be who you want to be.”
