A year after the now infamous 2022 Will Smith Oscars slap heard ’round the world, Chris Rock is now making headlines once again with his new Netflix comedy special, Selective Outrage.

Among one of the things he spoke about most – aside from the incident, and cancel culture at large – is his family: specifically, his two daughters, Lola Rock and Zahra Rock. 

Fans might be curious to learn more about Chris Rock‘s two adult daughters, whom he shares with ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock. The two were married from 1996 to 2014, finalizing their divorce in 2016. The two still live close by for their daughters.

And while he’s been fairly private about his at-home life, Chris Rock has shared some sweet details over the years about their relationship.

Chris Rock has decided to end his marriage to Malaak Compton-Rock, JustJared.com can confirm.

“Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak,” his rep tells JJ. “This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family.”

This comes after Malaak released her own statement confirming that the couple had “gone their separate ways” after 19 years of marriage.

They have two daughters together, Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10.

Chris Rock and his wife Malaak Compton-Rock have gone their separate ways.

“After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways,” the 49-year-old comedian’s wife told People in a statement. “Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life’s blessings, even when faced with difficulties.”

The statement continued, “While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives.”

According to TMZ, Chris has filed divorce papers.

The couple has two daughters together, Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10.
