Marie Fredriksson Dead - Roxette Singer Dies at 61

Marie Fredriksson – one half of the pop duo Roxette – has passed away after a 17 year battle with cancer at the age of 61.

“Marie leaves us a grand musical legacy. Her amazing voice — both strong and sensitive — and her magical live performances will be remembered by all of us who was lucky enough to witness them,” Dimberg Jernberg Management said in a statement to CNN. “But we also remember a wonderful person with a huge appetite for life, and woman with a very big heart who cared for everybody she met.”

Marie was first diagnosed with a brain tumor back in 2002. She started performing again in 2009, but by 2016, her doctors told her to prioritize her health. She reportedly suffered health problems as a result of the radiation therapy she received to fight the tumor.

Roxette is known for hits including “It Must Have Been Love,” which was featured in the 1989 film Pretty Woman, and “The Look,” which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Our thoughts are with Marie Frederiksson‘s loved ones during this time.
