Fashionistas Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are featured on a special double cover edition of Elle UK‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 25-year-old designers had to share:

M-K, on their plans to expand into retail: “It’s about being creative, but having a bigger vision for that creativity. For a designer to be successful nowadays, they need to know much more than just design. [Tom Ford], his career is astonishing – the way he’s been able to do everything he has wanted to do and really not compromise at all. From fashion to film, it’s such a singular vision.”

Ashley, on not trusting others to run their businesses: “We are perfectionists. We’ve always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on – that’s why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that’s how it has to be.”

Ashley Olsen and twin sis Mary-Kate sit front row at the J. Mendel Fall 2012 show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Wednesday (February 15) at The Lincoln Center in NYC.

Earlier in the week, the 25-year-old fashionistas held their own fashion show for their The Row line at The Carlyle Hotel – a quiet affair without photographers and just the noise of a baby grand piano.

“The Olsens explained in their notes that they were courting the American woman ‘from day to night.’ Think cozy chenille jackets or cashmere tops with an underlayer of sheer chiffon, or paired with a full-length skirt. They also put together blouses with billowy sleeves and slim bottoms,” the Associated Press reports.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Debra Messing sandwich in fashion commentator Simon Doonan at the Diet Pepsi Style Studio on Thursday (February 9) at the Lincoln Center in NYC.

The two actresses came out for a fashion show presented by four up-and-coming regional designers, who were given the opportunity to showcase their collections.

Models worked the runway showing off three fall looks from each designer with themes reflecting trends such as fierce animal prints, avant garde workwear, and metallic finishes inspired by the sleek Diet Pepsi can.

The day before, Mary-Kate joined twin sis Ashley at the QVC’s show during New York Fashion Week.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sit front row at QVC’s New York Fashion Week runway show, held at Center 548 on Wednesday (February 8) in New York City.

Joining the 25-year-old fashionistas in the front row were Camila Alves, Maria Menounos, and Olivia Palermo. M-K and Ashley were also spotted chatting with designer Isaac Mizrahi before the show began.

Mary-Kate Olsen and her twin sis and design partner, Ashley, attend the jcpenney launch event on Wednesday (January 25) at Pier 57 in New York City.

The 25-year-old fashionistas, who have a fashion line called Olsenboye at jcpenney, helped celebrate the brand’s official unveiling of its fresh new look. The store also announced that its newest partner is Ellen DeGeneres!
