Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw will be playing the adult versions of Jane and Michael Banks in the upcoming movie Mary Poppins Returns and we have the first photos from set!

The 45-year-old actress and the 36-year-old actor were spotted on set on Sunday night (March 5) in London, England.

Emily and Ben were spotted with a green kite, just like the one that the characters fly in the first movie during the “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” scene.

The first official photo of Emily Blunt as the title character was released last week!

Mary Poppins Returns has officially started filming!

Just one day after the first official photo of Emily Blunt dressed as Disney’s favorite nanny, the 34-year-old actress was spotted on set of the upcoming film on Saturday (March 4) in London, England.

Emily was in costume as she and the Banks children filmed outside of the Bank of England.

The film is set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Julie Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda), uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Meryl Streep).

We still have a long time to wait until the movie is released as it doesn’t hit theaters until December 25, 2018!

The cast of the upcoming movie Mary Poppins Returns just keeps getting better and better and now Angela Lansbury has been added to the list of amazing actors!

The legendary 91-year-old actress will play the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from PL Travers‘ series of Mary Poppins children’s books.

Emily Blunt is playing the title role, originated years ago by Julie Andrews.

Also starring in the movie, which recently started production, are Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, and Colin Firth.

Mary Poppins Returns, directed by Rob Marshall, will hit theaters on December 25, 2018.

Dick Van Dyke has confirmed that he will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming movie Mary Poppins Returns!

The sequel to the classic movie musical will star Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2018.

“This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up,” Dick told THR. “It’s a great cast – Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy from Hamilton.”

“I think it’s the worst thing you can do,” he added. “Certain people who do retire suddenly age. I think you have to stay active.”

Emily Blunt is set to play Mary Poppins in an upcoming sequel and she is revealing what original star Julie Andrews had to say about her casting.

While the 33-year-old actress hasn’t spoken to Julie herself, she said director Rob Marshall had a chance to tell her about the casting before the news broke.

“Rob said he was in the Hamptons, and he saw [Andrews], and he said, ‘It’s top secret, but Emily Blunt‘s playing Mary Poppins,’” she told EW. “And she went, ‘Oh, wonderful!’”

“I felt like I wanted to cry,” Emily added. “It was lovely to get her stamp of approval. That took the edge off it, for sure.”

Cool news! It is being reported that Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke are going to make appearances in the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel!

Mary Poppins Returns is set to star Emily Blunt as the title character while Lin-Manuel Miranda will play a Bert-like character. Meryl Streep will be playing the title nanny’s cousin Topsy.

“Plans are underway” for the original movie’s stars to appear in the sequel, according to E! News.

Julie won an Oscar for her work as Mary Poppins in the first movie, which won five Academy Awards in total.
