Beyonce's Dad Claims She Never Told Him She was Pregnant Before Announcing it on Instagram

Mathew Knowles says he had to find out on the Internet that his daughter Beyonce is pregnant.

The 35-year-old entertainer’s dad and former manager told The Insider that his daughter never told him that she was expecting twins before announcing it on Instagram.

“I was shocked. I got a first text, and I was like, ‘Why is this person saying congratulations?’” Mathew said. “Then I get a second text from one of my students at Texas Southern, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He was like, ‘Go to the web.’ I didn’t know myself.”

Since dropping her father as her manager, Beyonce and Mathew have not always had the closest relationship.

Mathew went on to say that he thought the way Beyonce and Jay Z announced the pregnancy was a “smart” business decision.

“I think it was strategy. I think there’s more to come,” Mathew said.

However, it seems like things between father and daughter are alright now. The two spoke after he learned the news and he shared some insight on her upcoming Grammys performance.

“She sounded a little tired ’cause she’s been working on the Grammy performance,” Mathew said. “We just had a wonderful daughter-dad conversation.”

Beyonce's Dad Reveals Who He Thinks 'Lemonade' is About

While some fans think that Beyonce‘s new album Lemonade could possibly be about her dad Mathew Knowles‘ relationship with her mom Tina, he is revealing who he thinks the album is about.

“Let me tell you who she’s talking about, can I tell you who she’s talking about? She’s talking about you,” he told E! News. “You put that in context for you personally. She’s talking about you and everybody that is you, that’s who she’s talking about.”

Mathew wouldn’t reveal if he thinks the lyrics on the album are autobiographical.

“I think that’s the beauty of her creativity and I think that’s what makes it so special, is that it relates to everyone,” he said. “Every one of us have been disappointed before and have had to go through the grieving process of anger and, you know, disappointment and then acceptance and forgiveness. And I think that’s why this again is touching so many people, because it’s universal. Everybody can relate to it.”

Beyonce's Loved Ones Dedicate Songs on Her 34th Birthday

Beyonce is celebrating her 34th birthday today (September 4) and in honor of her #BeyDay, her loved ones are dedicating songs to her!

The singer’s husband Jay Z, their daughter Blue Ivy, her parents Tina and Mathew, her sister Solange, and so many more participated in the project. Even her Destiny’s Child groupmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland chimed in.

Blue dedicated The Little Mermaid‘s “Part of Your World” to her mom. “Mommy you sung this to me all the time. Happy Birthday, Mommy!” she said.

Jay dedicated the Coldplay song “Yellow” to his wife. “This song reminds me of you and I on vacation. ‘Look at the stars, look how they shine for you.’ So many legendary nights. It represents vulnerability; it’s us in our own world, away from work and totally lost in love. ‘For you, I’ll bleed myself dry.’”

Beyonce's Dad Calls the Elevator Incident a Ticket Selling Stunt

Beyonce‘s father Mathew Knowles is claiming that his daughter’s incident in an elevator with hubby Jay Z and sister Solange Knowles was a “Jedi mind trick” to sell tour tickets.

The comment came when the music manager made an appearance on Houston’s Roula and Ryan Show.

“[They needed something to] ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. A Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of the time. [Snaps fingers] All I know is everyone is talking about it. Ticket sales went up, Solange‘s album sales went up 200 percent…” Mathew said.

Later in the clip, Mathew makes sure to remind us that he’s still the manager of Destiny’s Child, even though he is no longer Beyonce‘s manager. He even hints that a new album and reunion tour could be happening soon.
