Matt Damon Says 'There's No Reason' To Not Support Inclusion Riders in Future Deals

Matt Damon is opening up about the “tool” he hopes will “combat implicit bias” in Hollywood!

The 47-year-old actor and his business partner Ben Affleck recently announced that their production company Pearl Street will be adopting an inclusion rider agreement in all their future deals.

“There have been a lot of back channel conversations that have been going on. I would say most of the people I know are activated around this and talking about this. There’s no reason our industry shouldn’t look like our country demographically,” Matt expressed while joining Stella Artois at their brands partnership launch with Water.org to help end the global water crisis held at Grand Central Terminal on Thursday (March 22) in New York City.

“We hired Fanshen [Head of Strategic Outreach] a few years ago with issues of inclusion because we needed to do better,” Matt continued (via THR). “And she brought us the Annenberg study that was done out of USC, which was just the data collection on the real numbers industry-wide. And they were horrible. It was alarming and embarrassing. So she kind of challenged us with that.”

“Hopefully, if you can use it as a tool to combat implicit bias, when Dr. Smith does her study again, we’ll see better inclusion in Hollywood. That’s the hope,” Matt added. “The rider itself is not the point. That’s the means to the end. The point is inclusion and hopefully this is the tool that can get us there.”

Matt Damon Reacts to BFF Ben Affleck's Massive Back Tattoo

Matt Damon is supporting Ben Affleck‘s choice of a back tattoo!

“It’s not one man’s job to tell another man what he can do to his back,” Matt said on The Daily Show on Wednesday (March 21) about his BFF’s massive ink he displayed on his back in recent photos.

Matt continued, “I support him in all of his artistic expression.”

“Unfortunately I can’t seem to shake him. I’ve known him since I was 10, so it’s 37 years,” he added.

Ben actually once said the ink was fake years ago, but the tat appears to be very real in these new pics!

Is Matt Damon Moving to Australia Because of Trump? His Rep Responds

There’s a rumor floating around that Matt Damon is moving his family to Australia because he’s not pleased with Donald Trump.

Well, the 47-year-old actor’s rep is shutting down that rumor really quickly.

“He has visited Australia several times recently, but he has not bought a house there nor is he moving there,” his rep told Access Hollywood in a statement.

Matt Damon & Ben Affleck Pledge to Support Inclusion Riders in Future Deals

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck just announced that their production company Pearl Street will be adopting an inclusion rider agreement in all their future deals.

The company’s Head of Strategic Outreach Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni took to her Twitter to make the announcement during the SXSW Festival.

“On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward,” Fanshen wrote.

An inclusion rider is a contract addendum that requires studios to hire a diverse crew and/or cast for a project, which Frances McDormand brought attention to during the 2018 Oscars ceremony.

Her announcement comes after Michael B. Jordan revealed that he would add the inclusion rider to all projects produced by his company, Outlier Society Productions.

Stella Artois & Water.org Super Bowl Commercial 2018 with Matt Damon - Watch Now!

Matt Damon is helping to end the global water crisis in this 2018 Super Bowl commercial.

The 47-year-old Jason Bourne actor and Water.org – a charity he helped start back in 2009 – teamed up with beer company Stella Artois to help provide access to clean water for those in need.

In the commercial, Matt reminds viewers that there are millions of people in the world who walk up to six hours per day just to obtain clean water.

He goes on to explain that for every limited edition Stella Artois Chalice sold, Water.org can provide someone with five years of clean water, and if just 1 percent of Super Bowl viewers purchase a Chalice, Water.org can reach 1 million people.

Additionally, from January 15 through April 15, if you purchase a 12-pack of Stella Artois beer or cider, you’re helping Water.org give 12 months of clean water to someone, and if you buy one pint or bottle of Stella at a bar, that will help for one month.
