Who Won Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest 2016?

The 2016 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has come to a close and the winner is Joey Chestnut!

The competition took place on Monday afternoon (July 4) at the original Nathan’s Famous location on Coney Island in New York City.

Joey, who won the contest eight years in a row, faced off against Matt Stonie, who broke his streak last year.

The previous record was 69 hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes and Joey broke his own record by downing 70 hot dogs this year. Watch the impressive feast happen in the video below!

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Celebrates 100th Anniversary!

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is one of the highly anticipated events of the Fourth of July and it is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2016!

Joey Chestnut and Matt Stonie, the two big rivals in the contest, are set to compete against each other and several more hopefuls in this year’s showdown.

Matt defeated Joey in the contest last year, breaking the champ’s eight year winning streak.

Joey still holds the record of eating 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. The odds are in favor of Matt winning this year, but make sure to tune in at 12pm EST on ESPN to see who wins!

Joey Chestnut Gets Upset By Matthew Stonie at Hot Dog Eating Contest (Video)

Joey Chestnut could not defend his title at the 2015 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest!

The 31-year-old 8-time winner was defeated by Matthew “Megatoad” Stonie, who ate 62 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, on Independence Day (July 4) at Coney Island in Brooklyn. Watch the video below!

“I just had trouble,” Joey, who ate 60, shared to ESPN2 after the contest. “I was slow and he was eating fast.”

With the win, Matthew snapped Joey‘s streak of eight straight wins, which started in 2007.
