Matthew McConaughey & Gugu Mbatha-Raw Go Back in Time fro New Movie Shoot!

Matthew McConaughey flashes a smile and a wave while sitting by the river during a scene for his upcoming Civil War drama The Free State of Jones on Tuesday (February 24) in New Orleans, La.

The 45-year-old actor filmed scenes with co-star Gugu Mbatha-Raw and they were seen wearing several costumes throughout the shoot.

In the movie, Matthew plays “Newton Knight, a soldier who flees the battlefields after being disillusioned by the horrors that touched his own family. On the run, he rallies the support of fellow deserters to lead an uprising against their former comrades, in the process creating a free safe haven,” according to Variety.

Matthew McConaughey Worked On 'Free State of Jones' Set Prior to Oscars 2015

Matthew McConaughey sports a period costume while shooting scenes for his upcoming Civil War drama The Free State Of Jones on Saturday (February 21) in New Orleans, Louis.

Later in the day, the 45-year-old actor and his wife Camila Alves were seen arriving on a flight at LAX Airport just in time for the 2015 Oscars.

The next day, Matthew presented the Best Actress award to Julianne Moore at the star-studded event, which was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

Matthew McConaughey Skips Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

Matthew McConaughey sports some scruff while arriving at the 2015 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood.

The 45-year-old actor decided to skip the red carpet at the star-studded event, which is hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

Matthew was on hand to present the Best Actress award, which is one of the last awards given during the ceremony.

Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto have just been announced as presenters at the 2015 Oscars!

The 31-year-old actress and the 43-year-old actor weren’t the only ones announced, Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey will also be presenting this year!
