The 47-year-old actor recently shared his thoughts on returning as Rust Cohle for the hit HBO crime series during his appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.

“Can’t wait to hear what comes out of his mouth,” Matthew agreed.

When Rich asked Matthew about any season three updates, the actor said, “I hear that all the time now. ‘You said you were going to do season three. When is it coming?’”

Matthew revealed that the “ball’s not advanced at all. I’ve talked to the creator Nic Pizzolatto, who’s taking a little break from it,” before adding, “If that thing was written well and it came up again, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. Oh, I’m open to it for sure.”
