Naya Rivera keeps a low profile after an early morning appointment in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (May 28).

The 27-year-old Glee actress later picked up a cool drink from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Like many others, Naya remembered author Maya Angelou on Twitter, after news of her passing came.

“Angel. #RIPMayaAngelou The first book I read as a teenager, “I know why the caged bird sings”. Felt like we knew her,” Naya wrote.

Dr. Maya Angelou sadly passed away earlier today, Wednesday (May 28), at the age of 86 from an unknown cause.

The award winning author, poet, and civil rights activist touched the lives of many, and news of her death shocked the world.

Celebrities took to their social media accounts to remember the wonderful woman, highlighting her great quotes and accomplishments.

Rihanna, Lena Dunham, Katie Couric, Jamie Chung, and more posted touching tributes and condolences.

Award winning author, poet, and activist Dr. Maya Angelou has passed away at the age of 86 at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Fox reports.

The respected public figure was found unresponsive in her home by her caretaker on Wednesday morning (May 28). The publication also reports that Dr. Angelou was in poor health, and had canceled a public appearance recently.

Maya was about to receive the Beacon of Life Award at the 2014 MLB Beacon Award Luncheon on May 30 in Houston, Tex.
