Before Sandra Oh said yes to play Eve Polastri on BBC America’s Killing Eve, another major star was offered the role.
The series, which concluded after four seasons earlier this year, centered on Eve, who was bored of what her spy life had become, before being tasked to hunt down Villanelle, a very talented killer, mercurial in mood, who clings to the luxuries of her job.

While Natasha Lyonne couldn’t attend the Russian Doll: For Your Consideration Event, that doesn’t mean her presence wasn’t felt!
Co-stars Annie Murphy and Charlie Barnett posed with a cardboard cutout of Natasha while arriving at the event on Saturday (June 4) at the Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles.
Here’s the summary: Billionaire Molly Novak (Rudolph) has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a gigayacht — anything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years betrays her, she spirals publicly, becoming fuel for tabloid fodder.
She’s reaching rock bottom when she learns, to her surprise, that she has a charity foundation run by the no-nonsense Sofia Salinas (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), who pleads with Molly to stop generating bad press.
With her devoted assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) by her side, and with the help of Sofia and team — including mild-mannered accountant Arthur (Nat Faxon) and her optimistic, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard (Ron Funches) — Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Giving back to others might be what she needs to get back to herself.
The 43-year-old Russian Doll star and co-creator hosted the season finale of the NBC sketch comedy series on Saturday (May 21).
“Gosh, will you look at this? I’m hosting the season finale of Saturday Night Live. For a real New Yorker like me, that’s big,” Natasha started monologue. “I have a show called Russian Doll. The second season…just premiered on Netflix, and two things you really want to be associated with right now are Russia and Netflix.”
Natasha went on to say that she’s “genuinely humbled” to host the show and that she feels a “cosmic connection” to SNL.
“The people here are my real-life chosen family. I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager. I co-created Russian Doll with Amy Poehler, and I have great friends from the show…” Natasha said before her ex-boyfriend Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph joined her on stage.
