Smash cast members Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, and Christian Borle take a break on the set of their show to remember Marilyn Monroe fifty years after her death on Sunday (August 5) in New York City.

The musical within the show, Bombshell, revolves around the life and death of the iconic movie star, who passed away on August 5, 1962 after a Barbiturate overdose.

Smash will be returning to NBC for its second season next year along with special guest stars Jennifer Hudson and Jeremy Jordan!

Megan Hilty and her new Smash co-star Krysta Rodriguez hit the red carpet at the opening night of Bring It On: The Musical at the St. James Theatre on Wednesday (August 1) in New York City.

Bring It On tells the story of “the challenges and unexpected bonds formed through the thrill of extreme competition. The 28-year-old Smash star was also spotted working on a scene with co-star Megan Hilty.

NBC’s musical show is in for a number of changes in its second season, including the addition of writer Josh Safran, who worked on Gossip Girl. “[Josh's] vision for the season… was so specific, you were on the edge of your seat. It just felt like there’s a real plan in place and things are coming together in a way that feels more consistent,” president of entertainment Jennifer Salke said. We can’t wait to see it!

Jennifer Hudson, Megan Hilty, and Debra Messing get to work on the second season of Smash on Thursday (July 19) in New York City’s Gramercy Park.

The second season of the NBC musical drama is expected to air mid-season. Jennifer will be guest-starring on multiple episodes!

Smash just received four Emmy nominations! They are nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Uma Thurman), Outstanding Choreography (Routines: “National Pastime”/”Let’s Be Bad”/”Never Met A Wolf”), Outstanding Music Composition for a Series [Original Dramatic Score], and Outstanding Original Music & Lyrics (“Let Me Be Your Star”).
