Meghan Markle Slams Tabloid for 'Vicious' Attempt to Publish Identities of Her Friends Who Want to Remain Anonymous

Over a year ago, several of Meghan Markle‘s friends, under the condition of anonymity, spoke out about lies and untruths that had been published about her over the years.

Now, the names of Meghan‘s friends are at risk of being published by a British tabloid and she has released a statement about this.

“Associated Newspapers, the owner of The Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday, is threatening to publish the names of five women—five private citizens—who made a choice on their own to speak anonymously with a U.S. media outlet more than a year ago, to defend me from the bullying behavior of Britain’s tabloid media,” her statement reads. “These five women are not on trial, and nor am I. The publisher of the Mail on Sunday is the one on trial. It is this publisher that acted unlawfully and is attempting to evade accountability; to create a circus and distract from the point of this case—that the Mail on Sunday unlawfully published my private letter,” the Duchess said in a statement (via The Telegraph). If you don’t know, is suing the publishers for publishing a private letter she wrote to her father.

The Duchess continued, “Each of these women is a private citizen, young mother, and each has a basic right to privacy. Both the Mail on Sunday and the court system have their names on a confidential schedule, but for the Mail on Sunday to expose them in the public domain for no reason other than clickbait and commercial gain is vicious and poses a threat to their emotional and mental wellbeing. The Mail on Sunday is playing a media game with real lives. I respectfully ask the court to treat this legal matter with the sensitivity it deserves, and to prevent the publisher of the Mail on Sunday from breaking precedent and abusing the legal process by identifying these anonymous individuals – a privilege that these newspapers in fact rely upon to protect their own unnamed sources.”

The tabloid responded saying it had, “absolutely no intention” of publishing the identities of the friends, but they wanted their identities “properly considered by the court.”

“Their evidence is at the heart of the case and we see no reason why their identities should be kept secret,” the statement added.

Meghan Markle Source Reveals Why She Became Frustated By Palace Officials

A source close to Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry is speaking out about something that frustrated the Duchess during her time as a royal.

“The go-to position [at the palace] was no comment or to ignore stories, and people actively prevented her from responding to stuff that we knew to be untrue,” the source told People. “That is what she is taking issue with.”

Another source is explaining why the palace tends to answer “no comment,” saying, “The palace teams are faced with the difficulty that when things go wrong — particularly on private life matters — quite often any action taken with the media makes it worse. It’s not that the royal household doesn’t want to help — more that they don’t want to make it worse by giving a gossipy story more oxygen.”

Court documents recently came to light that revealed how Meghan really felt during her time as a royal.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Discuss Equal Rights & Complicity in New Conversation Amid Black Lives Matter Movement

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle joined in on a conversation with others about equal rights.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined a virtual call with four leaders – Co-Founder and Co-CEO of We Belong, Chrisann Jarrett, Equality Bahamas Director Alicia Wallace, The Common Sense Network Founder and CEO Mike Omoniyi and Abdullahi Alim, leader of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers network – to have an open conversation about justice, racial and social inequality and how to spark effective change.

Harry, while addressing how white people can own up to their privilege and behaviors, shared that “when it comes to sort of institutional and systemic racism, it’s there and it stays there because someone somewhere is benefiting from it.”

“We can’t deny or ignore the fact that all of us have been brought up and educated to see the world differently,” he continued. “However, once you start to realize that there is that bias there, then you need to acknowledge it. You need to acknowledge it, but then you need to do the work to be able to become more aware.”

Meghan added, “I think so much of what we’re seeing as well is that…it’s not even in the big moments, right? It’s in the quiet moments where racism and unconscious bias…lies and hides and drives. And it’s those nuances that I think makes it confusing for a lot of people to understand the role that they play in that either passively or actively, but I think even more so passively.”

“In people’s complacency,” she said, “they’re complicit and that I think is the shift that we’re seeing to go it’s not enough to just be a bystander and saying, ‘Well, it wasn’t me’ and that’s what I think was very much manifested in what you’re feeling from people’s outpouring surrounding the murder of George Floyd, that it wasn’t that this wasn’t always happening—it’s that it’s come to a head at a time where people just said, ‘Enough.’”

Meghan Markle Felt 'Unprotected' By Royal Family, Court Documents Reveal

Court documents revealed how Meghan Markle really felt during her time pregnant with her first child, Archie, with her husband Prince Harry.

The pregnancy occurred from 2018-2019, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were still part of the royal family.

“[Meghan Markle] had become the subject of a large number of false and damaging articles by the U.K. tabloid media, specifically by the [Mail on Sunday], which caused tremendous emotional distress and damage to her mental health,” court documents read (via E! News). “As her friends had never seen her in this state before, they were rightly concerned for her welfare, specifically as she was pregnant, unprotected by the Institution and prohibited from defending herself.”

Documents added, “It was mandated by the KP Communications Team that all friends and family of [Meghan] should say ‘no comment’ when approached by any media outlet, despite misinformation being provided to UK tabloids about [Meghan].”

Prince Harry and Meghan are suing Mail on Sunday and Associated Newspapers for breach of privacy, misuse of private information, and copyright infringement. It is thought the lawsuit came about after the Duchess’ private letter to her father Thomas Markle was published by the tabloid.

Meghan Markle Reaches Out To Althea Bernstein, Who Was The Target of a Hate Crime

Meghan Markle made a very important phone call over the weekend to Althea Bernstein.

If you don’t know, Althea was the target of a hate crime by a group of white men, who doused her with lighter fluid and set her on fire in Wisconsin last week.

According to Channel 3000, the Duchess of Sussex, along with her husband, Prince Harry, made special call to Althea to offer their support.

“Her and Meghan talked about the importance of self care and allowing herself to heal,” Michael Johnson, president of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane Country, said. “And she applauded her for the way that she responded and pretty much said, ‘Hey Michael, give me her cell phone number. I want to stay in touch. And let me know when you want me to come back and talk to people in Wisconsin.”

He added that Althea was “moved” by the conversation with Meghan and Harry.

“She’s struggling,” Michael says.. “It’s a challenge for her, it’s very, very emotional. I talked to her three or four times today, and I’ll tell you Meghan lifted her spirits.”

In addition, Michael also shared a tweet about speaking with the Sussexes.

“On the phone with Prince Harry and Meghan Markel the Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry shared that young people voices matter and Meghan has agreed to talk with girls in Wisconsin and we will be scheduling that soon. Thank you for caring!” he wrote.

Recently, Meghan and Harry have been quietly supporting Black Lives Matters organizations.
