Will Smith and Nicole Scherzinger‘s Men In Black 3 has dethroned Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers from its top box office spot, earning $55 million in its opening weekend.
The action-packed blockbuster The Avengers, featuring Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson, raked in an impressive $37 million in its fourth week in theaters.
Third place went to Battleship, Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna‘s action-adventure flick, which brought in $10.8 million. Fourth place went to Sacha Baron Cohen‘s comedic satire The Dictator with $9.6 million.
Chernobyl Diaries, the Jesse McCartney horror flick, came in fifth place with $8 million.
