Meryl Streep hits the red carpet at the European premiere of her new movie, The Iron Lady, on Wednesday (January 4) at the BFI Southbank in London, England.

The 62-year-old actress wore a Lindsey Thornburg cloak jacket, Stella McCartney dress, Fiona Paxton necklace, Michael Kors boots, and a Ferragamo handbag.

Meryl stars as Margaret Thatcher in the new drama, which chronicles the life of the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and focuses on the price she paid for power.

The Iron Lady will hit theaters nationwide on January 13.

Meryl Streep takes the cover of Newsweek‘s latest issue, on newsstands this week.

The 62-year-old actress, who posed as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, will hit the big screen in The Iron Lady on January 13.

The 62-year-old actress’s husband, Don Gummer, and her The Devil Wears Prada co-star, Anne Hathaway, both came out to support Meryl on her big night.

Meryl Streep looks positively radiant on the cover of Vogue‘s January 2012 issue, on newsstands Tuesday (December 20).

Here’s what the 62-year-old legendary actress and star of The Iron Lady had to share:

On playing Margaret Thatcher: “With any character I play, where she is me is where I meet her. It’s very easy to set people at arm’s length and judge them. Yes, you can judge the policies and the actions and the shortcomings – but to live inside that body is another thing entirely. And it’s humbling on a certain level and infuriating, just like it is to live in your own body. Because you recognize your own failings, and I have no doubt that she recognized hers.”

On feeling strongly about the film: “Because the material embedded in it is a lot of what I’ve been thinking about. The themes in the film, which I don’t feel like underlining, have interested me for a while. And you never see these subjects covered in films normally, and so that was very thrilling.”

Michelle Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker look stylish as can be at the 34th Kennedy Center Honors held at the Kennedy Center Hall of States on Sunday (December 4) in Washington, DC.

Michelle, accompanied by President Obama, and Sarah, accompanied by Matthew Broderick, were joined at the event by Emily Blunt and her hubby John Krasinski.

Emily gave a tribute to one of the honor recipients and her The Devil Wears Prada co-star, Meryl Streep (pictured inside).

“[Meryl]‘s actually doing at least two jobs. First, her own character, who is always so complete, so natural, you forget that somewhere in there is Meryl Streep. Then the second is stabilizing the other actor who is having a nervous breakdown because they’re in a scene with Meryl Streep,” Emily said.

Other honorees included Barbara Cook, Neil Diamond, Sonny Rollins, and Yo-Yo Ma.

Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin snap a photo together at Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation‘s A Magical Evening Gala, held at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday (November 30) in New York City.

The actors, who starred together in 2009′s It’s Complicated, gave the opening toast at the gala.

Also pictured inside is Dave Annable, who showed support for his dear friend Scott Scherick, who broke his neck and “beat the odds,” as Dave said. “We CAN beat paralysis,” Dave added.
