Dylan Farrow Speaks About Woody Allen Sexual Abuse Allegations & the Backlash She's Received

Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, has opened up even further about the choice she made to write an open letter about her sexual assault allegations against her famous adoptive father.

“It took all of my strength and all of my emotional fortitude to do what I did this week in the hope that it would put the truth out there,” the 28-year-old writer told People. “That is my only ammunition. I don’t have money or publicists or limos or fancy apartments in Manhattan. All I have is the truth and that is all I put out there.”

“People are saying that I am not actually remembering what I remember. People are saying that my ‘evil mother’ brainwashed me because they refuse to believe that my sick, evil father would ever molest me, because we live in this society where victim blaming and inexcusable behavior – this taboo against shaming the famous at the expense of their victims – is accepted and excused,” Dylan added.

“Part of the reason why it was so hard for me to write the piece that I wrote was because once upon a time I loved my father so much,” she added.

Dylan Farrow's Brother Moses Defends Their Dad Woody Allen: He Did Not Molest My Sister

Moses Farrow, the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, has now spoken out that he believes the sexual molestation allegations against his father are false.

“My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister,” Moses, 36, said to People. “And I hated him for her for years. I see now that this was a vengeful way to pay him back for falling in love with Soon-Yi.”

“Of course Woody did not molest my sister,” Moses said. “She loved him and looked forward to seeing him when he would visit. She never hid from him until our mother succeeded in creating the atmosphere of fear and hate towards him. The day in question, there were six or seven of us in the house. We were all in public rooms and no one, not my father or sister, was off in any private spaces. My mother was conveniently out shopping. I don’t know if my sister really believes she was molested or is trying to please her mother. Pleasing my mother was very powerful motivation because to be on her wrong side was horrible.”

Moses himself made some accusations in the interview with the magazine. “From an early age, my mother demanded obedience and I was often hit as a child,” he said. “She went into unbridled rages if we angered her, which was intimidating at the very least and often horrifying, leaving us not knowing what she would do.”

FYI: Moses has been estranged from his adoptive mother for many years.

Woody Allen Responds to Dylan Farrow's Sexual Abuse Claims

Woody Allen has responded to the allegations from his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow that he sexually abused her when she was just 7-years-old.

Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon,” the filmmaker’s rep told Mother Jones in a statement. “At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court appointed independent experts. The experts concluded there was no credible evidence of molestation; that Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality; and that Dylan Farrow had likely been coached by her mother Mia Farrow. No charges were ever filed.”

The new statement comes just after his Blue Jasmine stars Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin, who were both called out in Dylan‘s open letter, responded to the allegations as well.

Cate Blanchett & Alec Baldwin Respond to Dylan Farrow's Open Letter

Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin have publicly responded to the open letter from Dylan Farrow accusing her adoptive father Woody Allen of sexual abuse.

In the letter, Dylan asks the actors “What if it had been your child?” Both Cate and Alec worked with the famous filmmaker on the Oscar-nominated movie Blue Jasmine.

“It’s obviously been a long and painful situation for the family and I hope they find some sort of resolution and peace,” Cate said according to journalist Jeffrey Wells.

“What the f&@% is wrong w u that u think we all need to b commenting on this family’s personal struggle? You are mistaken if you think there is a place for me, or any outsider, in this family’s issue,” Alec tweeted in response to a fan asking about the situation. “USA is supposed to be THE place where you get a fair trial. Can a fair trial be conducted w everyone’s tired opinions on the internet? Americans have fallen victim to a sanctimony about things they know little about. You don’t ‘defend’ either party. You defend due process.”

Dylan Farrow: Dad Woody Allen Sexually Assaulted Me at Age 7

UPDATE 1: Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin release statements about the allegations.

Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, is opening up for the first time about her allegation that her father sexually assaulted her at age 7.

“[W]hen I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me,” Dylan wrote in an open letter posted by The New York Times.

Woody Allen was never convicted of any crime. That he got away with what he did to me haunted me as I grew up,” she added: “That torment was made worse by Hollywood. All but a precious few (my heroes) turned a blind eye. Most found it easier to accept the ambiguity, to say, ‘who can say what happened,’ to pretend that nothing was wrong. Actors praised him at awards shows. Networks put him on TV. Critics put him in magazines.”

In the letter, Dylan asked stars like Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin “What if it had been your child”? and asks Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson “What if it had been you?”
