5 Seconds of Summer's Michael Clifford Apologies for Resurfaced Offensive Tweets

Michael Clifford is apologizing for his past tweets.

A Twitter user recently took a deep dive into the 24-year-old 5 Seconds of Summer musician’s Twitter, finding tweets from 2012 where he allegedly used sexist, anti-gay, and offensive language.

On Saturday night (June 13), Michael issued an apologizing, saying that he is a “different person now.”

“hi. I am so f–king sorry for all the dumb s–t I did when I was younger,” Michael tweeted. “I am a different person now with a much better understanding of the world. Some people have access to a digital megaphone a bit earlier than they should, unfortunately, I was one of them.”

Michael sent a second tweet, writing, “I am so sorry for hurting anyone. It was never my intention. I was so naive and I am embarrassed and beyond sorry. I will continue to be better and I will continue to change. I never want to hurt anyone again.”

5 Seconds of Summer: 'CALM' Album Stream & Download - Listen!

5 Seconds of Summer‘s new album CALM is out now – and the title could not be more fitting amid the stress of the ongoing health crisis.

The band – Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin – unveiled their fourth studio album on Friday (March 27).

The 12-track project includes their previously released songs “Wildflower,” “Easier,” “Teeth,” “No Shame,” and “Old Me.”

“The album title came from the first letters of all of our names,” Luke told the New York Post. “And it’s also a nod to our fans that coined us that name in our early days. They’ve been using that acronym for a long time. It kind of just sums up [that] we’re a little bit older and a little bit wiser . . . But it was named before this went down, obviously.”

“We were gonna go all over the world, do all these kinds of things, and then we just couldn’t,” he added. “But honestly, we wanted the album out really badly. We were waiting a long time for it to come out.”

Luke has also called the album “a journey through a young man’s life, for better or for worse.” Calum adds, “These new songs feel like something we could keep playing for the next 10 years, or even beyond that. It feels like our first album—like we finally found what we’d been trying to achieve since the beginning of this band.”

Justin Bieber Fires Back at 5SOS Member Michael Clifford for Telling 'Rolling Stone' That He Hates Them

Justin Bieber is responding to 5 Seconds of Summer‘s new Rolling Stone cover story in which he is mentioned.

The 21-year-old “Sorry” singer called out Michael Clifford, 20, in particular, who told the mag, “I think he hates us.”

Michael also said about Justin‘s AMAs after-party, “I probably shouldn’t say this, but he had his own album on loop for, like, two or three hours.”

Justin took to Twitter after the story was released, and wrote (via Gossip Cop), “sorry guy. Don’t hate you. Don’t even know u.”

He added, “And are u sure u came to our party because my album wan’t on loop? Strange.”

“wish u the best. Don’t use my name for headlines. U are already on the cover,” Justin continued. “U don’t need it. Just be honest. Big hugs buds…And now can we call move on. No hate all love. Happy to make it clear. Happy times.”

Michael responded, “@justinbieber done nothing but praise ur album; no idea why that’s even in the article. big fan since the start man, take care.”

Justin later deleted his tweets, but you can see Michael‘s below.

5 Seconds of Summer Strip Down for 'Rolling Stone,' Give Most Candid Interview Yet

The guys of 5 Seconds of Summer stand totally unclothed while posing for the cover of Rolling Stone‘s new issue.

The band – made up of Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, and Michael Clifford – gave their most candid interview yet to the mag. Here’s what they had to share:

Ashton on the band not being a “boy band”: “Seventy-five percent of our lives is proving we’re a real band. We’re getting good at it now. We don’t want to just be, like, for girls. We want to be for everyone. That’s the great mission that we have. I’m already seeing a few male fans start to pop up, and that’s cool. If the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and all those guys can do it, we can do it, too.”

Luke on his girlfriend Arzaylea: “It’s hard. One of the weird things is you want it to be a secret, but you don’t want it to be a secret.”

Calum on that Snapchat video: “It was kind of a blessing, in a way, because nothing that bad could actually happen to me again. If another photo of my d–k came out, it will just be, like, ‘Oh! It’s his d–k again.’”
