Michelle Williams is stepping away from her Broadway show.

The 38-year-old singer will be taking a leave of absence from her role as Erzulie in Once On This Island, the show announced.

“Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing,” the statement read. Michelle was just cast in the show two weeks ago.

News of her Broadway exit comes just a week after Michelle revealed that she and Chad Johnson had called off their engagement.

It’s currently unclear why doctors advised Michelle to step away from the show, but Michelle has been extremely candid in the past about her battle with anxiety and depression.

Michelle‘s understudy Cassondra James will take over her role in Once On This Island until December 26. After that, Lea Salonga will take over until the Broadway production officially closes on January 6, 2019.

Michelle Williams and Chad Johnson have called it quits.

The 38-year-old Destiny’s Child singer and the 39-year-old pastor are no longer together according to Michelle on her Instagram Story on Friday (December 7).

The two got engaged earlier in the year, and their OWN reality TV series Chad Loves Michelle is still airing.

“I still remain fearless. I guess I still remain single. Things didn’t work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don’t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS,” she wrote on her Instagram before removing the post.

Michelle released her new single, “Fearless,” on the same day of the announcement.

The couple first met on a spiritual retreat in March of 2017.

Michelle Williams is speaking out to thank her fans for sending love and support while she sought help for depression.

The 37-year-old singer checked into a mental health facility earlier this month and her friends and family have been by her side.

“Thank you ALL sooooooooooooooo much for every message of love and support sent! My family, friends and fiancé have been AWESOME!” Michelle wrote on Instagram. “Sitting here reflecting on the past two weeks. I had no plans of what I was going through being public BUT now that it is I have a made an even BIGGER commitment to the mental health awareness area.”

“So many people are suffering, hurting, hopeless, lost and don’t see a way out but there is. Depression sucks, but my faith in God and my commitment to doing the work to stay well is my way out! You have to do the work even when you’re tired and feel the heaviness. Take one step at a time! Don’t overwhelm yourself. If you can just get up out the bed and brush your teeth and shower…..DO IT,” Michelle continued. “For people dealing with depression , that is a HUGE step! Now don’t be depressed AND stinky…..pick a struggle! 🤣 (y’all know I had to add some humor)”

“Anyhoo…..I love you all very much! Talk soon! ❤️ (yes I need a fill and my roots need to be flat ironed….bye…..I haven’t lost my humor) ❤️ Oh……Miss Tina cooked a HUGE meal for me the other night too, I just wanted to make y’all jealous! 🤷🏽‍♀️” she concluded.

That “Miss Tina” she is referring to is Tina Lawson, the mother of Beyonce Knowles!

Michelle Williams is getting open and honest about seeking help for depression and her celebrity friends are praising her for speaking out.

The 37-year-old Destiny’s Child singer revealed in an Instagram post that she “recently listened to the same advice [she has] given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.”

Among the stars who left comments on the Instagram post include Beyonce‘s sister Solange Knowles and mom Tina Lawson, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, Empire actor Jussie Smollett, rapper Missy Elliott, and more.

“Love u so Michelle! Really proud of you. Sending u all the love in the world,” Solange wrote.

“Michelle My Belle, I’m so proud of you! You have given unselfishly of your time and support to so many and I know that you will be the best example of self care which we all need. Keep being a warrior and an advocate for you. I love and support you with all my being,” Tina wrote. “I so love and admire you [sic] amazing courage.”

Michelle Williams has checked into a mental health facility to seek help and support in her struggle with depression.

The 37-year-old singer, best known for her work with Destiny’s Child, has been open about her struggles in the past and even revealed she was once suicidal.

“I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that, ‘I’ve been suffering from depression,’” Michelle said last year on The Talk. “I didn’t know until I was in my 30s what was going on…I’ve been suffering since the age of 13, I didn’t know what to call it.”

Michelle confirmed that she is seeking help in a statement to TMZ.
