Anthony Rapp Responds to Michelle Williams' Wage Gap Statement Mention

Michelle Williams released a statement on Saturday night (January 13), after news broke that Mark Wahlberg would be donating his $1.5 million earned from All the Money in the World reshoots to the Time’s Up movement. In her statement, she mentioned actor Anthony Rapp.

Anthony bravely came forward with his story of what happened between him and Kevin Spacey when he was just 14 years old. Michelle said of Anthony, “Anthony Rapp, for all the shoulders you stood on, now we stand on yours.”

Mark famously received $1.5 million for his work during reshoots, while reports suggest Michelle only made $80 a day.

Reshoots began when Christopher Plummer replaced Kevin in the film after allegations of sexual misconduct came to light.

Michelle Williams Responds to Mark Wahlberg's $1.5 Million Time's Up Donation

Michelle Williams is reacting to Mark Wahlberg‘s major donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund.

Earlier today (January 13), the 46-year-old actor donated $1.5 million to the organization under his 37-year-old co-star’s name after after it was revealed he made that much more than her on the reshoots for All the Money in the World.

Michelle has now released a statement reacting to the donation.

“Today isn’t about me,” Michelle says in her statement. “My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted. If we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice. Today is one of the most indelible days of my life because of Mark Wahlberg, WME and a community of women and men who share in this accomplishment. Anthony Rapp, for all the shoulders you stood on, now we stand on yours.”

Mark Wahlberg Donates $1.5 Million to Time's Up in Michelle Williams' Name

Mark Wahlberg has announced that he is donating $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund after it was revealed he made that much more than Michelle Williams on the reshoots for All the Money in the World.

The 46-year-old actor refused to work for free when the movie was re-shot in November to replace Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer, though Michelle agreed to work for the base rate of $80 a day, totaling out to just $1,000.

“Over the last few days my reshoot fee for All The Money in the World has become an important topic of conversation. I 100% support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams‘ name,” Mark said in a statement.

Mark‘s agents at WME, the same agency that represent Michelle, announced that they will donate $500,000 to the fund, in addition to the $1 million already donated by the agency.

“The current conversation is a reminder that those of us in a position of influence have a responsibility to challenge inequities, including the gender wage gap. In recognition of the pay discrepancy on All The Money In The World reshoots, WME is donating an additional $500,000 to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams‘ name, following our $1 million pledge to the organization earlier this month,” WME announced in a statement. “It’s crucial that this conversation continues within our community and we are committed to being part of the solution.”

Busy Philipps Still Has Michelle Williams' Golden Globe from 2012 at Her House

Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams have been best friends for nearly two decades and they are constantly attending events together, including awards shows like the Golden Globes.

When Michelle won a Globe in 2012 for her work in My Week with Marilyn, Busy held on to the trophy for Michelle… but never gave it back, unintentionally!

“I was supposed to send it to her in New York after she won it so many years ago,” Busy said in an Instagram story while holding the award. “I couldn’t figure out, like, I didn’t want to ship it because I was nervous it would get stolen or something. So then every time she comes for L.A., I keep meaning to bring it to her hotel and make her pack it in her suitcase, but then I always forget.”

“It’s here for safe-keeping,” Busy added. “At some point, I’ll make sure that she puts it in her suitcase and takes it back…. It’s hard to be grown up.”

Michelle has been nominated for five Golden Globes and has won once.
