“Okay, so we have to re-pierce my ear basically because I changed my ears out before it was time and Michelle has to put it back in and it hurts!” Busy said in the Instagram story video.

“You guys, why are we like teenagers. This is so dumb!” she added.

Michelle Williams Details How Tabloids Have Impacted Her Life

Michelle Williams is all about love on the cover of Elle magazine’s January 2017 issue, on newsstands December 13.

Here’s what the 36-year-old Manchester By the Sea star had to share:

On how the tabloid onslaught made it impossible to experience an authentic life: “If you feel like people are watching you, it’s impossible to have an authentic experience of being alive,” Williams says. “There’s a performative aspect and a guardedness, and that’s just death. I don’t know how to live like that, and I don’t know how to give a life to my child like that.”

On how she’s naturally open but learned to set boundaries for herself: “It’s not naturally my inclination to be a boundary draw-er,” she says, shutting her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. “I’m like, ‘Open up all the doors and the windows and let everybody in.’ That’s the aim of my work, too.” But this isn’t acting. “It’s been a really, really long time since I’ve been in an interview. But I have better boundaries now. I feel less susceptible to emotional wreck-diving to come up with explanations for everything.”

On the inspiration that drove her Oscar-worthy performance in Manchester by the Sea: “Everybody talks about the silences in movies and how interesting they are but it’s a lot easier than connecting beat to beat, line to line, inside of a scene in real time in front of a thousand people. But when I went to make [Manchester by the Sea], I felt a little bit more freedom, more access inside of myself.”

FYI: Michelle is wearing a Michael Kors Collection sweater on the cover.

Natalie Portman & Michelle Williams Chat About Being Child Actors

Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams both got their starts in the business as child actors and they opened up about their experiences in this new Variety Actors on Actors interview.

“I was around the same age [eleven],” Michelle said. “It’s a funny thing, you know? It turned out all right. But it isn’t a life that I would want necessarily. It was really hard when I started out, and the bottom of absolutely every barrel. My first agent was a part-time undertaker.”

“It worked out OK. It’s a really long way, and not necessarily a very nice one. It’s a hard childhood to have — or a lack of a childhood to have. I do love doing it, and I can’t really imagine doing anything else. I want to keep doing it. But when I see kids on the set, or when I work with kids in movies, I feel really torn about their role there,” Michelle added.

Michelle Williams: I Didn't Expect to Be Dating at 36 with an 11-Year-Old

Michelle Williams looks gorgeous wearing a Michael Kors photo on the cover of Porter magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands December 2.

Here’s what the 36-year-old Manchester By the Sea actress had to share:

On being a single mom to daughter Matilda with the late Heath Ledger: “I know a handful of women in similar positions [to me], it’s kind of like a club. It’s a sh*tty club and we don’t want any new members… and all of the current members are exhausted. But man, oh man, it’s lifesaving to have [them]. My friend Busy [Phillips] and her husband Marc [Silverstein] said, ‘Michelle, you’re in like a blackout zone, everybody is now partnered up and you have to wait for people to start getting divorced.’ Oh my f*cking God…”

On getting into the dating scene: “Talk about a learning process. I think, God, what would I say about it? I feel really sensitive about it and certainly did not expect to be still dating at 36 with an 11-year-old. This is not what I imagined. I’m like a cat, I’m a very domestic creature. I just want to stay home and take care of people. But I’m also happy with myself and just because I might have a desire to be with someone… that won’t lead me to marry the wrong person.”

On finding her life complete: “I watched [Matilda] warm in the sun, in her swimsuit, get on her bicycle and smile and wave as she rode off to go meet her friends. I went back into the house and sobbed because of this incredibly simple moment – common everyday happiness. I really felt like in that moment, like wow, we’ve done it. Not only are we OK, she’s happy. Life has brought us to a place that’s not just surviving, but thriving.”

Michelle Williams on Heath Ledger's Death: 'It Just Won’t Ever Be Right'

Michelle Williams is getting candid about raising her 11-year-old daughter Matilda without her father, Heath Ledger.

The 36-year-old actress is already drumming up Oscar buzz for her performance in Manchester by the Sea, in which she plays a heartbroken mother trying to deal with a family tragedy.

“I couldn’t stop crying,” she told Porter magazine about the film. “It’s like the darkest part of your heart, something happening to your child … She’s making a brave choice, moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day. Because it is a choice. I would exit … It would be so much easier than living with the loss.”

Michelle is currently raising Matilda by herself following Heath‘s death from accidental overdose in January 2008, when he was 28.

“In all honesty, for pretty much everything else, I feel like I’m a believer in not fighting circumstances, accepting where you are and where you’ve been,” Michelle added. “In pretty much all senses but one. I would be able to go totally down that line of thinking were it not for Matilda not having her dad. You know that’s just something that doesn’t … I mean, it just won’t ever be right.”
