Nick Wechsler is handsome on the cover of Prestige Indonesia magazine’s August 2013 issue, out on newsstands now!
Here’s what the 34-year-old actor had to share:
On the global appeal of his hit show Revenge: “Tensions will always be high between the rich and the poor. The financial collapse amplified the resentment, so I think part of it is timing. But we also have a strange relationship with wealth. We want to peek inside the lives of those who have it, but we can’t wait to see them fail. I think the biggest reason, though, is that each of us has vengeful fantasies. We’ve all imagined what it would be like to make someone pay for having hurt us. It’s wish fulfillment. And we get to live vicariously through Emily [VanCamp] in much the same way we live vicariously through Batman or Dexter.”
On what show business has taught him: “This business has taught me a number of ugly things and only one good thing. It’s taught me that fame matters more than talent. It’s taught me that you have to maintain the appearance of always working or you will promptly be forgotten. It’s taught me that it’s expensive to keep a career going. It’s taught me to lose faith in myself. But it’s also taught me persistence.”
On his personal goals: “My goals are modest. I don’t have any particular desire for fame or inordinate wealth. Generally speaking, I’d just like to be able to keep acting and not have to worry too much about my bills, and then one day I’d like to be able to own a nice house in a nice neighborhood. In terms of career, however, I’d love to work in film more. Particularly in small, emotional dramas like Blue Valentine. But I would also love to do comedy. It’s my first love, and is actually the reason I started acting.”
