Kenan Thompson Responds to 'Quiet on Set' Docuseries, Says It Was 'Definitely Tough' to Watch

Nickelodeon alum Kenan Thompson weighed in on the startling new docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

The multi-part docuseries was released by Investigation Discovery and featured interviews from former child stars, parents and other Nickelodeon employees. One of the most notable participants was Drake Bell, who revealed that he had been molested by a dialogue coach while working as a teen actor.

Other revelations focused on former Nickelodeon head Dan Schneider, who was accused of creating a toxic workplace while with the network. He was let go by the network in 2018.

Kenan, who came up on Nickelodeon with projects such as All That, Kenan & Kel and Good Burger, responded to the docuseries in a recent interview. He reflected on his own experience and why Quiet on Set was “definitely tough” to watch.

Drake Bell Reacts to Nickelodeon's Response to 'Quiet on Set,' Actors Who Wrote Letters of Support for His Abuser & How He Prepared for Docuseries

Drake Bell opened up in his first interview after participating in the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docuseries.

In the newly released project, the 37-year-old Drake & Josh star revealed that he had been molested by dialogue coach Brian Peck while working as a teen actor.

One week after the revelations were shared with the world, he appeared on The Sarah Fraser Show to talk about his experience with the series and how Nickelodeon has responded to it.

Drake revealed that it wasn’t the first time that he’d been approached to participate in a documentary like this one. However, the first time ended badly.

He even explained how he prepared to share his story and what he thinks about the Hollywood stars who had written letters of support for his abuser at the time of his sentencing.

The actor also reflected on his own experiences with former Nickelodeon producer, writer and creator Dan Schneider who was accused of bad behavior by many others.

Drake Bell Says 1 'Drake & Josh' Costar Reached Out Privately, Another Offered Public Support Following Revelation He was Molested as Teen Actor

Drake Bell is getting support from his former castmates after speaking out publicly for the first time about being molested while he was working as a teen actor.

The now 37-year-old Drake & Josh actor spoke about his experience with dialogue coach Brian Peck in the new ID docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

In 2004, Brian pled no contest to a charge of oral copulation with a minor under 16 as well as a charge of performing a lewd act with a 14- or 15-year-old. At the time, it was not revealed that Drake was the teen involved in the charges.

Since speaking out in the documentary, Drake has revealed that one former Drake & Josh costar reached out to him behind the scenes. Another issued a public statement.

Dan Schneider Gives First Interview After 'Quiet On Set,' Addresses Inappropriate Jokes, Massages & More

Dan Schneider is addressing the allegations in the docu-series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV in his first interview since all of the episodes were released.

The former Nickelodeon producer, writer and creator of several shows opened up about the alleged toxic workplace environments he created on his shows over the years.

The interview was conducted by BooG!e, who played T-Bo on iCarly, one of the many Nickelodeon shows Dan created.

In the interview, Dan shared his thoughts and reacted to the claims in the docu-series, addressing the inappropraite jokes in writers rooms, asking people on set to give him massages, and reacted to Drake Bell‘s confession that he was the one who was sexually assaulted by dialogue coach Brian Peck.

The abuse behind the scenes at Nickelodeon has been revealed in a new docu-series.

Investigation Discovery released the first half of the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV doc, which “pulls back the curtain on an empire, built by creator Dan Schneider, that had an undeniable grip on popular culture. Series such as All That and The Amanda Show, among others, were obsessively consumed by children across the country and defined comedy for a generation.”

“But behind the upbeat onscreen presence on these shows with questionable jokes and over-the-top sketches, Quiet on Set reveals an insidious environment rife with allegations of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate dynamics with its underage stars and crew.”
