Emma Watson Got Super Emotional Watching 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'

Emma Watson reacted to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in a way she didn’t expect!

The 26-year-old actress says she got super emotional seeing Noma Dumezweni portray Hermione in the hugely successful play.

“It was so strange. It was so emotional seeing Noma‘s performance in a way that I had not anticipated at all. I went to the play…and she walked in the room and I just spontaneously burst into tears,” she explained to EW.

Emma added, “I had played that character so intensely up until that point, that to know that Hermione was going to be okay – I know it sounds crazy – but to know that everything turned out all right and everything in the world was okay, that there was someone else carrying her on and carrying her forward…it was just such a relief.”

Emma Watson Sees 'Harry Potter' Play, Meets Older Hermione!

Emma Watson attended a performance of the new stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and she raved about it in a review posted to Facebook.

“Yesterday I went to see the Cursed Child. I came in with no idea what to expect and it was AMAZING. Some things about the play were, I think, possibly even more beautiful than the films,” the 26-year-old actress said.

“Having seen it I felt more connected to Hermione and the stories than I have since Deathly Hallows came out, which was such a gift,” Emma said. ” Meeting Noma [Dumezweni] and seeing her on stage was like meeting my older self and have her tell me everything was going to be alright, which as you can imagine was immensely comforting (and emotional)!”

“The cast and crew welcomed me like I was family and Noma was everything I could ever hope she would be. She’s wonderful. The music is beautiful… I could go on… Here are some pics of me meeting Noma and the crew. Love, E xx ‪#‎keepthesecrets‬ ‪#‎19yearslater‬,” she added.

Emma also snapped a photo with Sam Clemmett, who plays Albus Potter, and Anthony Boyle, who plays Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius.

J.K. Rowling Slams Critics of Hermoine Casting for 'Harry Potter' Play: 'Bunch of Racists'

J.K. Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” series, is opening up about the casting of Noma Dumezweni to play Hermoine in the new play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, opening in London next month.

“With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot,” J.K. told The Guardian about casting the black actress to play the role. “But what can you say? That’s the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job.”

“I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost color from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm,” J.K. added.

“What shocked me was the way people couldn’t visualise a non-white person as the hero of a story. It’s therefore brilliant that this has happened,” director of the play John Tiffany said.
