The Songs of the Summer for 2003-2023 Revealed - Only 3 Artists Appear on The List More Than Once

The concept of the Song of the Summer has become omnipresent in recent years, but Billboard has been tracking the data since 1958.

As the weather heats up outside, many of our favorite artists begin to churn out bops and bangers that rocket up the charts. Each year, only one of them can become the defining anthem of the summer.

Billboard unveiled the Song of the Summer for 2023 on Tuesday (September 5). This year Morgan Wallen‘s “Last Night” took the top spot.

In honor of the announcement, we looked back on Billboard’s charts to determine what song dominated the charts each summer from 2003 until 2023. We even noted the bop that came in second place each year! In the case of 2023, we rounded up the Top 5.

While looking back, we noticed that only three artists in the last 21 years were able to claim the Song of the Summer more than once. Can you guess who?

DNCE, Nick Jonas, & More Round Out Final 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2016' Performers!

The final performers were just announced for the upcoming star-studded Dick Clark’s New Year’s 2016 Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest!

Nick Jonas, Alessia Cara, DNCE, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, OMI, Pentatonix and Nathan Sykes will round out this year’s line-up.

Hosted by Fergie, the Billboard Hollywood Party will feature performances by headliner One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Fall Out Boy, Andy Grammer, Ellie Goulding, Elle King, Tove Lo, Rachel Platten and Walk the Moon.

The entire night will feature a whopping 38 performances, including New York City headliner Carrie Underwood with Luke Bryan, and Demi Lovato and Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, who will perform live in Times Square for the huge crowd.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s 2016 Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest begins on Thursday, December 31 @ 8PM on ABC.

Taylor Swift Brings Avril Lavigne Out for 'Complicated' Duet After Reported Tumblr Feud! (Video)

Taylor Swift rocks out on stage with special guest Avril Lavigne during her 1989 Tour stop at PETCO Park on Saturday night (August 29) in San Diego, Calif.

The duo sang Avril‘s 2002 hit “Complicated,” which you can watch below! The performance certainly cleared up any rumors that Avril threw shade at Taylor on Tumblr a week earlier.

Taylor also brought out OMI for a duet of “Cheerleader.” Meanwhile, her “Wildest Dreams” video star Scott Eastwood and pal Gracie Gold both attended the show as well.

“So incredible sharing the stage with @AvrilLavigne! ‘Complicated’ is such a brilliant pop song and I just love her,” Taylor later tweeted.

Avril wrote, “Such a Pleasure to perform ‘Complicated’ tonight with @taylorswift on her #1989 world tour! She ROCKS �’��’��’�”

OMI Keeps His 'Billboard' Number 1 Streak Going!

OMI‘s debut smash “Cheerleader” has once again topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth week!

Meanwhile, The Weeknd‘s “Can’t Feel My Face” is still holding strong at number two this week, keeping the position since enjoying a number one spot two weeks ago.

Silento‘s “Watch Me” is keeping at number three this week. Major Lazer and DJ Snake‘s hit “Lean On,” featuring MO has landed at number four, with The Weeknd‘s “The Hills” rounding out the top five.

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez‘s “Good for You” featuring A$AP Rocky is almost in the top five, landing at number six this week!

OMI's 'Cheerleader' Is Back at Number 1 After Being Dethroned!

OMI is back on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his hit song “Cheerleader” after being dethroned for one week!

The Weeknd‘s “Can’t Feel My Face” has landed back at the number two spot after temporarily gaining the top spot last week.

Silento‘s “Watch Me” has returned to the number three spot this week, with Major Lazer and DJ Snake‘s “Lean On,” featuring MO at number four.

The Weeknd‘s “The Hills” rounds out the top five.

Lana Del Rey also enjoyed a great week for her new song “High by the Beach,” which debuted at number seven.

OMI‘s “Cheerleader” is topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart once again, coming it at number one for the fourth straight week.

The Weeknd‘s “Can’t Feel My Face” is remaining at number two, although the song has dethroned “Cheerleader” as the top-selling song in the U.S.

Silento‘s “Watch Me” comes in at number three this week. Rounding out the top five are Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” and “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, at four and five respectively.

OMI's 'Cheerleader' Number 1 Again, Fetty Wap's 'My Way' Makes Huge Jump!

OMI‘s hit song “Cheerleader” is topping the Billboard Hot 100 once again this week for the third time in a row!

The song actually gained in popularity this week – widening the gap between the number two song (“Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd).

Silento‘s “Watch Me” comes in at number three this week. Rounding out the top five are Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” and “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, at four and five respectively.

Other notable Hot 100 news is the jump from number 87 to number 7 for Fetty Wap‘s “My Way,” featuring Monty!
