Rihanna's 2012 Interview About Still Loving Chris Brown Resurfaces Online - Here's What Happened

An old interview conducted by Oprah where Rihanna spoke about the state of her relationship with Chris Brown is resurfacing online as if it’s new. We want to make clear that it is not a new interview!

The YouTube video from Oprah‘s OWN has the upload date as 2012, so it’s proof that this interview is quite old. We believe that Oprah uploaded the interview as a podcast just this month in September 2020, confusing some into believing it was a brand new interview.

Some quotes from the interview include…

“We’ve been working on our friendship again. Now we’re very very close friends. We’ve built up a trust again, and that’s – we love each other and we probably always will. And that’s not something we’re ever going to change. That’s not something you can shut off, if you’ve ever been in love,” Rihanna said about Chris.

“I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love. And I see that he loved me the same way… it’s not even about us being together. I truly love him. So the main thing for me is that he’s at peace. I’m not at peace if he’s a little unhappy, or he’s still lonely,” she said.

Rihanna was also asked by Oprah if they had would rekindle their relationship in 2012 and she responded, “He’s in a relationship of his own. I’m single but we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order has been dropped. We’ve just worked on it, little by little, and it has not been easy. It’s not easy.”

She spoke about the aftermath of her 2009 assault, saying, “I was hurt most, nobody felt what I felt. It happened to me…I felt protective. I felt the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird confusing space to be in because as angry as I was, and hurt and betrayed, I felt like he made that mistake because he needed help, and who’s going to help him?”

Rihanna added, “I was more concerned about him.”

Chadwick Boseman Receives More Love & Tributes From Hollywood During ABC Memorial

Angelina Jolie, Robert Downey, Jr., and Oprah Winfrey are just a few among the many stars who paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman during an ABC special over the weekend, just days after his shocking death.

The ABC News special Chadwick Boseman – A Tribute for a King aired in between a commercial free premiere of Black Panther, and featured tributes from Josh Brolin, Forest Whitaker, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, and many others, who spoke about his personality as well as his contributions to cinema and culture.

“I think that he not only played a superhero, but the way he handled his life and managing cancer with such humility and grace and dignity lets all know that he truly was a superhero,” Oprah shared in her tribute. “He will be remembered, cherished and loved in our hearts, not just for what he was able to offer on film, but what he was able to give as a human being, and it’s not just a loss that we’re feeling. We’re going to feel his absence.”

Robert added, “Toward the end of the third ‘Avengers‘ — ‘Infinity War‘ — we all kind of lose together. And I remember it was one of those few days that all of the Avengers were together and it was just the way that he walked on set and the immense success that had occurred, and rightfully so, with ‘Black Panther‘ … he was just kind of in this stratus of his own, but always, always humble, always hardworking and always a smile on his face. Now looking back, all the more I’ve realized just what an great incredibly graceful human being he was.”

Angelina remembered him as a true king, saying, “He gave all of us and all of our children an example of a great, gracious and humbled leader.”

Chadwick sadly lost his years long battle with colon cancer last week, passing away at the young age of 43.

'The Color Purple' Musical to Become a Movie & Cynthia Erivo Could Make History if She Plays Celie!

The Broadway musical The Color Purple is being turned into a movie and a director has been selected!

Blitz Bazawule, who co-directed Beyonce‘s Black Is King visual album for Disney+, is going to helm the upcoming feature for Warner Bros.

Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders, and Quincy Jones are producing the movie. In a statement to Deadline, Oprah said, “We, were all blown away by Blitz’s unique vision as a director and look forward to seeing how he brings the next evolution of this beloved story to life.”

Casting has not yet been announced for the movie, but Cynthia Erivo seems to be a shoo-in for the role of Celie. She played the role in the recent Broadway revival, which launched her career.

Cynthia could make movie history if she plays Celie in the film version. She won a Tony, an Emmy, and a Grammy for her work in the Broadway musical. If she also wins an Oscar for the role, she’d be the first person to win an EGOT from the same role. Earlier this year, she received two Oscar nominations for her work in the movie Harriet.

Ben Platt also has the chance to achieve this feat as he won the same awards for his work in Dear Evan Hansen. He’s rumored to play the role in the upcoming movie version.

Watch an incredible performance that Cynthia gave earlier this summer for a Fourth of July special.

Angela Bassett, Alicia Garza, Joe Morton, Phylicia Rashad, Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Courtney B. Vance, Pauletta Washington and Susan Kelechi Watson are also set to star in HBO’s adaptation of the stage show, which is based on Ta-Nehisi CoatesNew York Times bestseller.

Here’s more about the production: “Originally adapted and staged by the Apollo Theater in 2018, the special will combine elements of that production, including readings from Coates’ book, and will once again be directed by award-winning director and Apollo Theater Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes. It will also incorporate documentary footage from the actors’ home life, archival footage, and animation.”

“The book, which was first published in 2015 by One World, is written as a letter to Coates’ teenage son and recounts the author’s experiences growing up in Baltimore’s inner city and his growing fear of daily violence against the Black community. The narrative explores Coates’ notion that American society structurally supports white supremacy.”

The special is currently in production under COVID-19 guidelines, and will debut this fall on HBO and HBO Max.
