Patricia Arquette Continues Her Fight for Wage Equality

Patricia Arquette looks business chic while stopping by the Extra studios on Tuesday afternoon (March 10) in New York City’s Times Square.

Later in the day, the 46-year-old Oscar winner was joined by her partner Eric White while attending the Step It Up for Gender Equality event held at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

“Let’s get real here! This is about supporting families and giving women what they have already earned from their hard work,” Patricia said in a speech at the event (via THR). “It’s time that we stop forcing women to pay what is effectively a gender tax. … This is 2015, not 1915! Employers, be leaders of industry. Join us in bringing about change.”

“Pay according to merit and be transparent about what guides your pay decisions,” she added. “Lawmakers, equal pay is a non-partisan issue! … We are citizens, we are voters, we are Americans, we are a movement, and we are making changes for our daughters. We matter. Surprise, America!”

Earlier that same day, Zelda spoke out against media publications that didn’t include coverage of the Challenged Athletes Foundation when covering her recent interview about her dad.

“Guess it’s too much to ask that news sites that pick up my interview at least mention the amazing @CAFoundation, the reason I spoke at all,” she tweeted.

Zelda continued, saying: “I didn’t do the interview to talk about why my father died, I took it to talk about why he lived. Excluding charity is missing the point…Regardless, I’m grateful to all those the interview reached who have lost someone or feel lost themselves. Know you’re not alone.”
