'Mad About You' Reboot Will Star Paul Reiser & Helen Hunt

A Mad About You revival is coming to Charter’s Spectrum Originals!

Original stars of the 1990s comedy Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt have both signed on for the reboot, Deadline reports.

The limited series hails from showrunner Peter Tolan and Sony Pictures Television.

Helen will direct the first episode with Danny Jacobson, who co-created the original series with Paul. Helen and Paul are also executive producers.

“We are so excited to finally be doing this and thrilled to have Peter Tolan as our fearless captain,” Paul and Helen said in a joint statement. “We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show – as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!”

The half-hour comedy, set for a late 2019 premiere, is expected to take place 20 years after the original series’ seven-season run wrapped up on NBC in 1999.

It will focus on “Paul (Reiser) and Jamie (Hunt) Buchman — now new empty-nesters — as they navigate their marriage, the trials of middle age, and their unpredictable, hard-to-control daughter Mabel.”

The new episodes could potentially revolve around Paul and Jamie grappling with empty-nest syndrome.

Paul recently teased that concept while doing promo for Stranger Things 2.

“If we can find the story to tell, and anybody’s interested, I’d be open to it…to me, it’s interesting when I see my kids are growing and leaving the house. It’s like, ‘Oh.’ It’s like that moment when you get married. It’s like we’re in a new world that we don’t know the rules of,” he told People.
