Kesha & Mom Win Small Victory in Legal Battle with Dr. Luke

Kesha and her mom Pebe Sebert have won a small victory in their legal battle with the singer’s longtime producer Dr. Luke.

The 28-year-old singer filed a lawsuit against Luke in 2014 claiming that he sexually, physically, emotionally, and verbally abused her for the past decade.

Luke then filed a counter suit against Kesha and her mom with the claim that they were trying to extort him. He said they planned to go wide with the allegations unless he released her from her recording contract. He also filed a separate suit against Kesha‘s manager Jack Rovner.

Now, a judge dismissed Luke‘s claims. A New York judge says that there is no jurisdiction over Kesha‘s mom, though Pebe still faces a similar suit in Tennessee, according to THR.

Ke$ha's Mom Pebe Sebert Checks Into Same Rehab Center

Ke$ha‘s mom Pebe Sebert has checked herself into the same Chicago-area rehab center that her daughter has been staying at for the past week.

“I’m checking myself into Timberline Knolls today for post-traumatic stress disorder, at Ke$ha‘s urging,” Pebe told People in a statement. “This whole Dr. Luke thing has almost torn our family apart and taken over my life, and Ke$ha wants me to heal along with her.”

Pebe spoke out earlier in the week accusing music producer Dr. Luke of calling K$ a “refrigerator” and of putting pressure on her to lose weight. He denies the claims.

Ke$ha checked into the rehab center last week to seek treatment for an eating disorder and to “learn to love myself again.”

Ke$ha: A Bob Dylan for Late-Adolescent Party Nihilists

Ke$ha goes out for a night on the town with her mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert, in Los Angeles on Monday (May 9).

The 24-year-old pop phenom was recently compared to a rock icon. The LA Times wrote, “She’s got a writing credit on Britney Spears‘ sleek and insatiable new single ‘Till the World Ends‘ atop a long catalog of her self-penned album tracks and work for Miley Cyrus and others. This makes her a rarity among the hyper-specialization of today’s pop machinery: a solo
female chart topper with a singular aesthetic who can capably pen for her peers. In that, she may be a hater’s true worst nightmare: a Bob Dylan for late-adolescent party nihilists.”
