Check out the trailer for Penn Badgley‘s new flick Greetings From Tim Buckley!
Here’s the film’s synopsis: In 1991 Jeff Buckley (Badgley), an unknown twenty four year-old L.A. musician, is invited to participate in a tribute concert in New York City for his late father Tim Buckley, the iconic folk rock star. In the days leading up to the concert, Jeff grapples with his own self doubts and the legacy of his famous father. But with the loving help of an enigmatic young woman working at the concert (Imogen Poots), he finds the courage to perform at the now legendary St. Ann’s concert, where Jeff discovers his own voice singing his father’s songs, captivating the audience and launching Jeff’s own meteoric career.
“I think it’s impossible to ever feel like something’s perfect. You can feel the rush and excitement of trying to attain that,” Penn says in the video. “Those moments are rare when you actually get something that special. But, when you feel like you are starting to get it, that’s something that’s very exciting.”
The 31-year-old actor was spotted chatting up Marisa Tomei in a private booth in the VIP section during the party while Nina was joined by some friends and her Perks of Being a Wallflower co-star Logan Lerman.
Penn Badgley hit the dance floor with girlfriend Zoe Kravitz, who also danced with her mom’s partner Jason Momoa to some Jay-Z tunes. Zoe has a week off from shooting Mad Max: Fury Road and then returns to Africa to finish shooting. Jason is in town to shoot Wolves with Lucas Till, who also attended the party.
Also in attendance: Kate Hudson chilling with two gal pals before hitting up Bungalow and Naomi Watts dancing up a storm with her manager Jason Weinberg.
FYI: Smartwater and Cartier sponsored the party, which was hosted by CAA’s Film Finance & Sales Group co-head Roeg Sutherland and Micah Green. The party was organized by Ally Bernstein and her company The Branding Bee.
