Penny Marshall's Cause of Death Released

Legendary actress and director Penny Marshall passed away at the age of 75 earlier this month.

Now, her official cause of death has been released.

According to her death certificate, Penny passed away from heart failure, heart disease and complications from diabetes, TMZ reports. Heart failure was listed as her primary cause of death. It also lists cardiovascular disease and diabetes as contributing factors.

Penny Marshall's Ex-Husband Rob Reiner Remembers Her in Touching Tweets

Rob Reiner, the ex-husband of the late Penny Marshall, is speaking out to remember the legendary actress and filmmaker after she passed away.

Rob and Penny were married from 1971 to 1981 and he adopted her daughter and raised her alongside Penny.

“So sad about Penny,” Rob initially tweeted after the news was announced on Tuesday morning (December 18).

He later added, “I loved Penny. I grew up with her. She was born with a great gift. She was born with a funnybone and the instinct of how to use it. I was very lucky to have lived with her and her funnybone. I will miss her.”

Penny Marshall has sadly died at the age of 75.

The actress, comedian and director died on Monday night (December 17) at her home in Hollywood, TMZ reports.

The cause of death was reportedly from complications due to diabetes.

Penny was known for her many roles in Hollywood, from starring in Laverne & Shirley to directing Tom Hanks in Big, Robin Williams in Awakenings and Madonna, Geena Davis and Rosie O’Donnell in A League of Their Own among many others.

She made history as the first woman to direct a film that grossed more than $100 million.
