Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson's Engagement Was Reportedly 'Too Much Too Soon'

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson are “still planning to spend time together” after calling off their engagement.

The 25-year-old “God is a woman” singer and the 24-year-old Saturday Night Live cast member split and ended their engagement over the weekend, after announcing the big news in June just weeks after it was revealed that they were dating.

“Their engagement is off, but they still plan on spending time together,” a source told People. “It’s not like they split and never plan on seeing each other again. They just decided to slow things down.”

“She realized that planning a wedding right now felt very rushed,” the source continued. “It’s not what she wants to do right now. She doesn’t want to make any rushed decisions and has decided to take a step back instead.”

“They totally could get back together because who knows with those two,” another source added. “Honestly who knows — they were fully together on Saturday.”

“It’s not totally over,” another source shared. “She supported him at SNL this weekend, and with them, you never know, [though they admit] the engagement being called off was very sudden. They put on this front of being so happy but there were lots of fights and struggles behind the scenes.”

A source also told the outlet that the couple’s relationship was “way too much too soon” and that their choice to end the engagement was “not shocking to anyone.”

ICYMI, late last month, Ariana tweeted a string of emotional messages suggesting that she was going through a difficult time, begging for “one okay day.”

Pete Davidson Spoke About a Potential Ariana Grande Breakup on 'SNL' (Video)

On the premiere of Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson actually referenced a future breakup with Ariana Grande.

If you don’t know, news of Ariana and Pete‘s breakup broke this weekend, and apparently is very recent.

On SNL‘s premiere a few weeks ago, Pete sat down with Colin Jost during Weekend Update to talk about his engagement.

“You know, I don’t even get royalties for that ‘Pete Davidson‘ song?,” Pete said, referencing the song on Sweetener that is titled “Pete Davidson.” “Like, if we break up, and we won’t — we will — but we won’t. I’m kidding. But like in ten years if God forbid that ever happened, there will be a song called ‘Pete Davidson‘ like playing in speakers at K-Mart and I’ll be working there.”
