Mariska Hargitay and her husband, Peter Hermann, have adopted a son named Andrew!

The 47-year-old Law & Order: SVU actress and her hubby adopted a daughter, Amaya, six months ago and told People that they didn’t expect to add a member to the family so quickly.

“We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’” she said, adding, “We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right.”

Mariska and Peter are also parents to a 5-year-old son named August.

Mariska Hargitay hits the red carpet at two different events in New York City on Monday (May 16).

The 47-year-old actress attended the 2011 NBC Upfronts held at the Hilton Hotel in support of her show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Later in the day, Mariska‘s hubby, Peter Hermann, joined her for the premiere of HBO’s Too Big to Fail, held at MoMA in NYC, where Mariska wore a Vera Wang dress.

Mariska told Access Hollywood that her character, Olivia Benson, will take on a different role toward the second half of the season. “I’m going to go into a different position, which is very exciting,” she dished, adding, “It’ll be quite challenging and different, but I think it’s exciting.”

Mariska is cutting her hours to spend more time with her little ones.

Mariska Hargitay takes her children August and newborn baby Amaya Josephine for a playdate with Hugh Jackman‘s family on Sunday (April 10) in New York City.

The 47-year-old actress held onto her adopted baby girl while chatting with Hugh‘s wife Deborra Lee Furness.

Hugh took August and his daughter Ava for a walk around the block with the family dog Peaches.

Last week, Mariska and her husband Peter Hermann announced that they had adopted Amaya, who was born only a couple weeks ago.

Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann have adopted a baby girl, Amaya Josephine, JustJared.com can confirm.

The 47-year-old Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress told People that she is “deliriously happy. From the minute she was born, she was just surprisingly alert and so full of love.”

Amaya was born just a week ago and in the United States!

“We were considering both international and domestic adoption and we’re thrilled that this is the way our prayers were answered,” Mariska added. “We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are very excited that we are now a multi-racial family. We’re just so happy she’s here.”

Mariska and Peter have a 4-year-old son August, who is “over the moon” about Amaya.

Mariska Hargitay meets the cast of The Lion King with her husband Peter Hermann and their adorable son August on Saturday (December 11) at NYC’s Minskoff Theatre.

The family caught a matinee of the hit Broadway musical and posed for pics backstage with actress Tshidi Manye, who portrays the iconic Rafiki in the play.

Mariska, 46, recently spoke out about domestic violence and supported the documentary Telling Amy’s Story, which centers around a woman killed by her husband after years of abuse.

“Become the person in your community — perhaps the first, hopefully the first among many — who knows the signs of domestic and intimate partner violence, who knows how to respond to a victim with compassion and wisdom, and who knows how participate in creating a society where perpetrators will not be allowed to abuse with impunity and without consequence,” the Law & Order: SVU star wrote in a piece for the Huffington Post.

The 46-year-old actress and August were spotted having fun with confetti at the 77kids by American Eagle Denim Decorating Booth! With the help of mom or dad, little ones decorated denim with buttons, googly eyes, puffy paint and more at the fun station.
