Celebs are outraged after Jeronimo Yanez, the Minnesota police officer who shot and killed Philando Castile in July 2016, was acquitted by a jury.

Castile‘s death made headlines after his girlfriend live streamed everything that happened on Facebook. His daughter was also in the car when an officer pulled them over for a broken taillight.

When Castile told the officer that he had a gun on him, which was not visible, the officer shot five bullets into the innocent man.

Stars like Rosario Dawson, Chelsea Clinton, and Orange Is the New Black cast members Danielle Brooks, Samira Wiley, and Uzo Aduba have all spoken out about the acquittal.

Michael B. Jordan has written an essay on the recent police brutality shootings and how it could have “easily” been himself as the victim.

The 29-year-old actor played the victim of police brutality in the movie Fruitvale Station, which is based on the true story of Oscar Grant III, a Bay Area resident who was killed in 2008.

“I’ve been trying to process all that has occurred in the last few days and I’m still looking for the words to express my pain. The fact is Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were not unfortunate accidents. These are just a few of the countless incidents of violent neglect, poor training and lack of accountability that clearly illustrate one thing: Black people are being disproportionally dehumanized and murdered, this must stop!” Michael wrote on Instagram.

“I care about the safety of my black brothers and sisters and my blue ones too. There are no adequate words for the fallen officers in Dallas. From the bottom of my heart, I thank them for protecting the peaceful protestors, their courage and effort to support us is what we need more of,” he continued.

“This hits close to home. It could have easily been myself, my little brother, my dad, one of my friends, or any of us. When one of us is murdered because a police officer is ‘afraid for their life’, it pains us – we feel it,” Michael said. “In the wake of these senseless murders, our homes are forever broken; families are left to figure it out. I’m concerned about my mother, my sister, and all my magical black women that are left to pick up the pieces. Often they are not acknowledged or thanked for being on the front line fighting these battles for and with us, but know your continued strength, courage, and unwavering love and support gives us the strength to keep fighting. Finding solutions in these times of survival are seemingly hard to identify but we must continue to keep moving forward. Alternatively, violence is not the answer; it only begets more fear and violence. This is the time to unify; our communities, our churches and our homes. My mission is to channel my anger and energy – along with my love and hope for the future into actively finding solutions. Change will take all of us, we can no longer say or do…Nothing.”

The 37-year-old actress took to her Instagram account to share a poem that she wrote following the recent shootings in Orlando and Dallas, the murders of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, and other tragedies.

“These last months have brought so much sadness. From Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Orlando shooting, Dallas, to terrorist attacks of late Bangladesh, Istanbul, Baghdad, Somalia. Everyday there is violence like this reported and not reported. It becomes overwhelming that there could be such hatred and senseless killing. When I can’t make sense of things I just start to write. I don’t usually share my writing but I felt a desire to put this out there. Peace ✌️,” Kate wrote as a caption to the poem.

Kim Kardashian is opening up about her thoughts on the recent police brutality shootings and why she wants her kids North and Saint to grow up knowing their lives matter.

“This week we watched Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two innocent black men, get senselessly murdered by police officers. Like a lot of you guys, I watched the videos, and was appalled and completely heartbroken. I was left speechless, angry and numb,” the 35-year-old reality star wrote on her website.

“I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter. I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust�”the people who ‘protect and serve’�”may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin,” Kim added.

“The last thing we need is to fuel anger with more hate or violence, especially toward the many incredible police officers who risk their lives every single day to protect our families and communities. We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn’t ever go unpunished,” Kim continued. “It is our responsibility as Americans and as parents to create a safe future for our children. We must do something NOW. We must speak up until we are heard and real, effective changes are made.”

Beyonce paid tribute to the lives lost at the hands of police brutality during her Formation World Tour show on Thursday (July 7) in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 34-year-old entertainer held a moment of silence to honor the lives of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and all the other people killed by police.

Bey projected the names of hundreds of the victims “and countless others” on the giant screen on her stage. She then broke out into an a capella version of her song “Freedom,” which you can watch below.

Less than 24 hours after the senseless shooting of Alton Sterling, a man was shot while being pulled over for an alleged broken taillight on Wednesday night (July 6) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

The victim, Philando Castile, 32, has since died from his gunshot wounds, according to a local CBS affiliate.

His girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, recorded the aftermath of the shooting on Facebook Live as he lay dying in their car.

“Oh my God, please don’t tell me he’s dead,” she says in the graphic video. “Please don’t tell me my boyfriend just went like that.”

Diamond tells the camera that the officer asked to see Philando‘s identification and he told them he had a licensed weapon on him.

He was then reportedly shot four times while reaching for his wallet. Diamond‘s daughter was present. This is still a developing story.

Facebook has since taken the video down.

Celebrities immediately took to Twitter to express their disbelief and outrage.
