Pokemon Donates $200,000 to NAACP & Black Lives Matter Amid Protests

Pokemon is opening their purse!

The beloved video game franchise made a big announcement on Wednesday (June 3) amid protests globally against racism and police brutality following the murder of George Floyd.

“Here at the Pokemon Company International, we believe in friendship, inclusivity and equity. These are the values that anchor the Pokemon brand. There is no place for oppression within our community. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, fans and families who continue to be impacted by systemic racism and senseless violence. We will be making a $100,000 donation to the NAACP and a $100,000 donation to Black Lives Matter. Our commitment to you is ongoing, and our support will be as well. We believe that Black Lives Matter,” they announced.

Armored Mewtwo Released in 'Pokemon Go' - Here's What You Need to Know!

Pokemon Go players, there’s an exciting new version of a beloved mystical Pokemon awaiting you!

Armored Mewtwo, an armor-wearing version of the powerful Psychic Legendary Pokemon, was released into the game beginning on Wednesday (July 10).

The character was first introduced to the series over 20 years ago, when given armor by Team Rocket leader Giovanni. And, after appearing in Pokemon: The First Movie, it will once again appear in the upcoming Japanese film, Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.

Armored Mewtwo will begin appearing in Pokemon Go Raids on Wednesday (July 10) at 4 p.m. ET until July 31. Experts suggest fighting it with Bug, Dark and Ghost-type attacks. Here are some examples!

The movie follows a boy (Justice Smith) who comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) who seeks to be a detective in a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle.

Ryan Reynolds‘ upcoming Detective Pikachu flick officially has release date!

Universal Pictures is set to debut the live-action Pokemon film on May 10, 2019.

Ryan will play the titular Detective Pikachu.

Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton will also star in the movie, directed by Rob Letterman, which is due to begin filming in mid-January in London, England.

The film is set to follow a teen whose father is kidnapped and she must team up with Pikachu in order to find him. A sassy journalist helps them on their quest.
