Pope Francis Received the Coronavirus Vaccine, Vatican Reveals

Pope Francis has been given the Coronavirus vaccine, the Vatican revealed.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a statement that he was “able to confirm that within the vaccine program of the Vatican City State, to this date the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine has been administered to Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus,” CNN reports.

Former Pope Benedict has also been vaccinated against COVID-19 as well.

The statement did not reveal when the pair were vaccinated.

“I believe that ethically everyone should take the vaccine. It is not an option, it is an ethical choice because you are gambling with your health, with your life, but you are also gambling with the lives of others,” the pontiff previously said in an interview.

Pope Francis Endorses Same Sex Civil Unions

Pope Francis has officially endorsed same sex civil unions. This stance is an official departure from previous viewpoints of the Vatican.

“Homosexuals have a right to be part of the family,” the Pope said in “Francesco,” a documentary about his life, according to the Catholic News Agency. “They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it.”

“What we have to create is a civil union law,” he continued in the documentary. “That way, they are legally covered. I stood up for that.” Right now, the documentary is set to debut on October 25 at the Savannah Film Festival.

Pope Francis Apologizes After Slapping Woman's Hand

Pope Francis is speaking out to apologize after he slapped at a woman’s hand.

The 83-year-old head of the Catholic Church opened up about the incident while speaking to the crowd in St. Peter’s Square for New Year’s on Wednesday (January 1) in Vatican City.

Francis admitted to losing his patience with the woman, who grabbed his hand and pulled him toward her while he was in the square on Tuesday night to check out the Vatican’s Nativity scene.

Cameras show the pope saying something, slapping her hand so she’d let go, frowning angrily, and walking away.

“So many times we lose patience,” Pope Francis told the crowd (via the Associated Press). “Me, too. I say ‘excuse me’ for the bad example.”

The Pope Makes a Big Change to The Lord's Prayer

Pope Francis just changed the most famous Christian prayer in the world.

The 82-year-old head of the Catholic Church approved a change to the prayer, known as “Our Father,” which is one of the unifying prayers taught across the world among Christians.

The Pope changed the phrase “lead us not into temptation” to “do not let us fall into temptation,” as mentioned in Matthew 6:13.

The change is reportedly an effort to get closer to the original intention of the prayer’s translation.

“I am the one who falls; it’s not Him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen. A father doesn’t do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It’s Satan who leads us into temptation, that’s his department,” the Pope said to Italian reporters.

The Pope and Donald Trump‘s meeting was said to be “stiff,” according to People. They exchanged gifts, per tradition, and the Pope said, “This is a medallion by a Roman artist: It is an olive tree, which is a symbol of peace. “We can use peace,” Trump responded, to which the Pope added while looking directly into his eyes (via the New York Times), “It is with all hope that you may become an olive tree to make peace.”

And if you’re wondering about Ivanka and Melania‘s dresses, Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s communications director, said “Per Vatican protocol, women who have an audience with the pope are required to wear long sleeves, formal black clothing, and a veil to cover the head.”
