Prince Harry Recalls Time Spent Serving In Afghanistan At 'Time To Talk' Day Launch!

Prince Harry has opened up about the time he spent serving in Afghanistan, and the mental health challenges he and other soldiers faced.

“You land and then hand them over and then are radioed to do something else. You never find out how that guy or girl recovered, whether they did recover or they didn’t,” the 32-year-old royal expressed while talking to medical staff as part of the Heads Together campaign at the London Ambulance Service on Thursday (February 2) in London, England.

“I understand what you go through and thank God you have got each other,” Harry added (via People).

The visit was held as part of the launch of Time to Talk Day, an annual awareness day run by Time To Change to raise awareness of mental health.

Prince Harry Visits Veterans At Help For Heroes Recovery Centre!

Prince Harry is all smiles as he makes his way to the Help For Heroes Recovery Centre at Tedworth House on Monday (January 23) in Wiltshire, England.

The 32-year-old royal learned more about the mental health support military veterans are receiving and reminisced about his own military days during a chat with a group of former soldiers, who have been building an Iron Age roundhouse as part of their recovery from conditions like post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

“As you say, once you’ve served, there’s that dark sense of humour,” Prince Harry said while speaking to Mike Day, 34, a former sniper section commander. “A lot of civilians don’t get it and actually it can be frowned upon sometimes, but to individuals like you, and the rest of them, without it you can’t function at all – it’s got to be part of the recovery process.”

Prince Harry also toured part of the centre’s gardens and met other veterans being taught horticulture as part of their recovery programme.

Kate Middleton & Prince William's Mental Health Plea: 'Don't Keep Quiet & Carry On'

Prince William and wife Kate Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge) are joining forces to stop people from suffering in silence!

The royals were joined by Prince Harry as they spoke out about their Heads Together campaign at a briefing held ahead of the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon at ICA on Monday (January 17) in London, England.

“There are times when, whoever we are, it is hard to cope with challenges – and when that happens being open and honest and asking for help is life-changing,” Prince William expressed in a statement. “Talking to someone else is a positive and confident step to take – but for too long it has been a case of ‘Keep Quiet and Carry On’. As a result, too many people have suffered in silence for too long, and the effects of this can be devastating. It is no exaggeration to say that conversations – simple conversations – can be life-changing: in a workplace, in your kitchen at home, with a friend, family member or colleague. And that’s what Catherine, Harry and I want to do – we want more people to be having those conversations.”

“In the weeks leading up to the (London) Marathon, our campaign will show people from all walks of life talking about the life-changing conversations that have helped them with their mental health challenges,” Kate added. “We want to show how simple it can be to have a conversation. We want to show that being a person who listens makes a life-changing difference. We want the campaign to celebrate these unsung heroes, who as William said, are ordinary people.”

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Head to Norway for Secret Romantic Vacay

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are kicking off 2017 in style!

The 32-year-old royal and the 35-year-old Suits actress have reportedly jetted off to Norway together for a private romantic getaway.

“The couple went to Norway together for a few days,” a source told E! News.

The duo also reportedly attempted to get a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Another source confirmed that the lovebirds spent their New Year’s in London.

Harry is more serious [about Meghan] than he ever has been about a woman before,” an insider revealed. “It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s already thinking about engagement just because that’s where his head goes but that’s not where the relationship is at right now.”

Prince Harry Gets Rugged on 'Town & Country' Cover

Prince Harry looks so rugged on the cover of Town & Country magazine’s February 2017 issue.

Here’s what the 32-year-old royal had to share with the mag, which focused on his work with African Parks for their 500 Elephants relocation project:

On his relationship with Africa: “I first came in 1997, straight after my mum died. My dad told my brother and me to pack our bags—we were going to Africa to get away from it all. My brother and I were brought up outdoors. We appreciate nature and everything about it. But it became more… This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world. I wish I could spend more time in Africa. I have this intense sense of complete relaxation and normality here. To not get recognized, to lose myself in the bush with what I would call the most down-to-earth people on the planet, people [dedicated to conservation] with no ulterior motives, no agendas, who would sacrifice everything for the betterment of nature… I talk to them about their jobs, about what they do. And I learn so much.”

On the working together to protect wildlife: “Everyone has a different opinion; every country has a different way of doing things. But I do believe that we need a regulatory body so that everyone who owns or manages wildlife is subject to inspection and rated on how well they look after the animals and how the communities benefit. I know I’m going to get criticized for this, but we have to come together. You know what Stevie Wonder said: ‘You need teamwork to make the dream work.’ I use that a lot.”

On the importance of protecting the wilderness and conservation parks: “These are very special places, but they are islands with a sea of people around them. I do worry. I think everyone should worry. We need to look after them, because otherwise our children will not have a chance to see what we have seen. This is God’s test: If we can’t save some animals in a wilderness area, what else can’t we do?”
