Here's How Meghan Markle Paid Tribute to Prince Philip During His Funeral While in California

Meghan Markle was unable to attend the funeral of her husband Prince Harry‘s grandfather Prince Philip, but she did something to pay tribute to him while at home in California.

The 39-year-old Duchess of Sussex reportedly wrote a handwritten card that was sent to the royal family along with a wreath that was handmade by Willow Crosley.

For those that don’t know, Willow designed the flower arrangements for the evening portion of Harry and Meghan‘s 2018 wedding, as well as other important events in their life.

Vanity Fair reported that the wreath is a tribute to Philip by including some symbolic touches, like an “Acanthus mollis (Bear’s breeches) as the National flower of Greece and Eryngium (Sea Holly), to represent the Royal Marines.”

Like the rest of the world, Meghan watched coverage of the funeral on television from her home in Montecito, Calif. She is currently pregnant with her second child with Harry.

Inside Photos from Prince Philip's Funeral - See the Royal Family at St. George's Chapel

Photos have been released from inside Prince Philip‘s funeral, which was held on Saturday afternoon (April 17) at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in Windsor, England.

Queen Elizabeth arrived at the funeral separately from other family members, who walked in a procession behind Philip’s coffin from the castle to the chapel. She sat all by herself during the ceremony and we learned the reason why.

Only 30 people are attending the funeral service due to COVID-19 restrictions and the guest list had to be cut down from the planned 800 people that would’ve attended in normal times.

Some of the guests included Philip‘s four children – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward – and his grandchildren, including Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, and more.

William and his wife Kate Middleton sat on opposite sides of the chapel from Harry, though they were seen chatting with each other while leaving the ceremony.
