The Prince Estate Releases Original Studio Version of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' in Memory of His Passing

The Prince Estate is remembering the late icon two years after his death with a very special release.

The estate released the original version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” on Thursday (April 19), recorded in 1984 – six years before Sinead O’Connor‘s version.

The track was recorded at the Flying Cloud Drive ‘Warehouse’ in Eden Prairie by Prince‘s longtime engineer Susan Rogers, and originally created and performed by Prince.

The new version of the song is now available to stream, and comes with an official video featuring never-before-seen footage of Prince & The Revolution practicing choreography during 1984 in that same warehouse.

Prince's Toxicology Report Revealed, New Details on Cause of Death Released

Some new details about Prince‘s cause of death have been released.

In a new toxicology report from the Associated Press, experts revealed that the singer, who passed away at the age of 57 in April of 2016, had 67.8 micrograms per liter of fentanyl in his blood. The toxicology report goes on to explain that deaths from fentanyl have been documented in people who have three to 58 micrograms per liter found in their body at their time of death.

“The amount in [Prince’s] blood is exceedingly high, even for somebody who is a chronic pain patient on fentanyl patches,” Dr. Lewis Nelson, chairman of emergency medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, said in a statement.

In addition, the amount of fentanyl in Prince‘s liver was at 450 micrograms per kilogram. Levels higher than 69 micrograms per kilogram “seem to represent overdose or fatal toxicity cases.”

Prince‘s cause of death was revealed to be an opioid overdose back in June of 2016.

Rest in peace, Prince.

Prince's Drummer Sheila E Confirms There Will Be No Hologram During Justin Timberlake's Halftime Show

A report emerged this weekend suggesting Justin Timberlake‘s Super Bowl halftime show would feature a hologram of Prince as a tribute to the late Minneapolis based artist.

There was almost immediate backlash to the news, as Prince apparently said he never wanted to be remembered via a hologram, according to his former drummer Sheila E. “Prince told me don’t ever let anyone do a hologram of me. Not cool if this happens!,” Sheila E tweeted.

Family, I spoke w/Justin 2nite and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince & the Purple fans. I look 4wrd 2 seeing what I’m sure is going 2 be a spectacular halftime show. There is no hologram.
