Lee Pace is a Monte Carlo Man

Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace attends a photocall for his hit ABC series on the third day of the 2008 Monte Carlo Television Festival held at Grimaldi Forum on Tuesday in Monaco, Principality of Monaco.

Lee, 29, discussed how Pushing Daisies has absolutely turned his life upside down: “I have been working for a while, but there’s something about being on a television show that does change your life. You get recognized in airports. You will be sitting at dinner, and there’ll be people across from you who are watching you eat and very obviously thinking about how they are going to tell their friends about spotting Ned. That’s really weird. It’s really weird. I can get really reclusive and just want to stay at home with my dog.”

When asked by E! if there a moral lesson we’re supposed to take from a show where the lovers (Ned and Chuck) don’t sleep together, Lee said, “That wasn’t the intention. Some people in America have interpreted it like that, and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. These are two people who love each other very much and choose to be together even though they’re never going to get drunk and sleep together. It’s not that show. I think it’s kind of sexy that they can’t touch. It’s the longest foreplay ever.” Ha ha.

'Pushing Daises' is a Ratings Success!

Daises bloomed during last night’s premiere, pulling in a hefty 12.83 million viewers.

It’s the third strongest premiere of any show this season behind Bionic Woman and Private Practice. According to TV Guide, Deal or No Deal placed second (with 11 mil), followed by Kid Nation (7.5 mil, down another 110 thou) and Fox’s sitcombo of Back to You (6.58 mil, down a mil) and ‘Til Death (holding steady with 6.22 mil). Top Model (4.52 mil) dropped another 330K.

Pushing Daises is fun fun fun with its fanciful storytelling style and whimsical originality. It reminded me a bit of Ugly Betty with the transitions, which is a plus!

The lead actor, Lee Pace, reminds me of Chuck‘s Zachary Levi, who reminds me of The Office‘s John Krasinski. Geek is in, guys! And it all ties together since Ned’s love interest’s name is Chuck too!

WHAT DID YOU THINK of the “Pushing Daises” premiere? Will you watch next week?
