Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) and Prince William attend the Observance for Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on Monday afternoon (March 9) in London, England.
The married couple, currently expecting their second child, was joined at the event by his dad Prince William (with wife Duchess Camilla) and his grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
“We are guardians of a precious flame [the Commonwealth], and it is our duty not only to keep it burning brightly but to keep it replenished for the decades ahead,” the Queen said in a statement. “With this in mind, I think it apt that on this day we celebrate ‘A Young Commonwealth’ and all that it has to offer. As a concept that is unique in human history, the Commonwealth can only flourish if its ideas and ideals continue to be young and fresh and relevant to all generations.”
FYI: Kate is wearing an Alexander McQueen coat.
