Chance the Rapper Apologizes for Working With R. Kelly

Chance the Rapper is apologizing for working with R. Kelly.

The 25-year-old Coloring Book rapper spoke out on Twitter following Saturday’s (January 5) episode of Survivor R. Kelly on Lifetime, which featured an audio clip of Chance saying working with him was “a mistake.”

“The quote was taken out of context, but the truth is any of us who ever ignored the R Kelly stories, or ever believed he was being setup/attacked by the system (as black men often are) were doing so at the detriment of black women and girls. I apologize to all of his survivors for working with him and for taking this long to speak out,” he wrote.

In Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary series, people from R. Kelly‘s inner circle come forward with new allegations about his sexual, mental and physical abuse.

John Legend Speaks Out Against R. Kelly in New Lifetime Documentary

John Legend is one of the few stars speaking out against R. Kelly.

In the new 6-part docu-series Surviving R. Kelly that premieres on Thursday (January 3) on Lifetime, the 40-year-old EGOT-winner joins the 51-year-old rapper’s family members, former friends and colleagues, and women who have been claiming for decades that R. Kelly used his power and influence to sexually and physically abuse women and young girls.

“R. Kelly has brought so much pain to so many people,” John says in an interview. “Time’s up for R. Kelly.”

The docu-series follows the sexual assault claims against R. Kelly that include engaging in sex acts with underage girls, holding women against their will, and preying on other women.

Also featured in brief appearances include Wendy Williams, #MeToo movement Tarana Burke, Charlamagne Tha God, and Chance the Rapper – who voices regret for working with Kelly amid the recent sexual abuse allegations.

airs on Lifetime at 9 p.m. ET from Thursday, Jan. 3 to Saturday, Jan. 5.

R. Kelly Cancels Tour Dates Amid Cult Allegations

R. Kelly has cancelled several of his upcoming tour dates amid allegations he is running a cult and holding women against their will.

The 49-year-old entertainer cancelled four of his 10 upcoming After Party tour dates, according to TMZ.

Shows in Louisiana, Dallas and Los Angeles were all called off due to poor ticket sales and scheduling conflicts.

Just last week, R. Kelly also cut his set short after performing for only 45 minutes.

R. Kelly has been facing criticism after an investigation claimed that he is holding young women against their will in a cult like environment. He has unequivocally denied the claims.
