Rafael Nadal takes a bite of his gold trophy after winning the Men’s Singles Final match against Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships held at London’s All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday (July 4)

The 24-year-old Spanish tennis champ beat Berdych in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, to reclaim the Wimbledon title he first won in 2008. This is Nadal‘s eighth major title and just eight more away from Roger Federer‘s men’s record of 16!

“Shooting this video with Rafa was a great experience, he is very sweet and made it easy and fun,” said Shakira. “He and I have so much in common — starting out so young in our respective careers and traveling the world — I felt this would translate the spirit of the lyrics in the song and I was thrilled he wanted to be a part of it.”

Nadal added, “It has been a great experience and I had a lot of fun doing it. I had some time in between tournaments and preparation and could not miss this opportunity. Shakira, as always, was spectacular. Working with a woman as charming as her, well, it makes it a lot easier to tell the truth. It was great, very easy, she’s really sweet and that always makes the hours go by faster.”

The 23-year-old tennis player handily beat beat Czech Republic’s Jan Hajek 6-3 6-4 in Barcelona while David Ferrer defeated Lukas Dlouhy 6-4 6-2.

Spain is the first country to successfully defend the title since Sweden in 1998. “I’m feeling very happy, I’m so happy for the whole team. We did an incredible job the whole year,” Spanish captain Albert Costa said in a news conference. “But winning the Davis Cup two years in a row is a spectacular achievement. We should value it enormously,”

Spain’s Rafael Nadal makes history by winning the Monte Carlo Masters title five times in a row on Sunday (April 19).

The 22-year-old defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic (blue shirt) 6-3 2-6 6-1 to retain his trophy. “Everyone can improve in every surface, no? No one is perfect. Sure, I can improve,” Rafael said. “I always work to improve because when you feel you can’t improve, it’s difficult to wake up and go on court and practice.”

“This tournament I didn’t serve very well. Especially the second serve was sometimes 120 kph (74 mph). So that’s [a] disaster,” Rafael said. “Yeah, I have to play more. Have to serve better.”

The Wimbledon and French Open champ at one point needed to bandage a nasty blister, but eventually won 7-6 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (4).

“I think I need the (crowd) support a little bit this year,” the 22-year-old said. “(But) I still believe it’s an advantage if you know how to win a US Open. It’s a tough tournament to win.”
