Jennifer Lopez: American Idol Covers 'Hollywood Reporter'

American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and host Ryan Seacrest take the cover of The Hollywood Reporter‘s latest issue.

Creator Simon Fuller, the show’s producers, Ryan, and Randy gave the magazine a never-before-seen look at what happened behind the scenes last year when Simon Cowell announced he was leaving – and how they had to assemble a new judges’ table.

“There are a lot of preconceived thoughts about Steven and Jennifer. They’re known as these icons – but not people. Jennifer was always loved, but is she a diva? I think she was quite polarizing prior to Idol, but as we got to know her, we got to see the sensitive, funny, compassionate, smart side. Then it’s, like, ‘Hey, she’s kind of cool,” said Simon F..

Ryan recalled the first time he sat down with Steven, J. Lo, and Randy: “It was the four of us – no agents, no spouses, nobody else – and top secret. And within the first 12 minutes of us sitting in my living room, we could all tell that this was going to be fun.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Reveals His Ideal First Date

Jake Gyllenhaal makes an appearance on Conan on Monday (March 28).

The 30-year-old actor stopped by to chat about his new thriller, Source Code. American Idol judge Randy Jackson and Panic! At the Disco were also guests on the show.

Jake also recently promoted the film on Moviefone’s Unscripted with co-star Michelle Monaghan, where he was asked what he would cook to impress a girl on a first date.

“I would go to probably try and find a farmers market or a place where there was food that was grown nearby,” he revealed.

“I don’t have a dish that I would cook. I would just love to be outside … and then cook whatever is there, whatever is fresh, whatever is good. Figure it out. Gotta improvise,” he added.

American Idol's New Judges Cover Entertainment Weekly

American Idol judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and host Ryan Seacrest take the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the group shared with the mag:

On their predictions for Idol‘s 10th season:
Ryan: I think you’ll see some of the youngest talent we’ve ever had compete with some of the oldest talent we’ve ever had.
Jennifer: You may have the youngest winner ever.
Randy: I’m going to go out on a limb. I think a girl’s going to win the show.

On Simon Cowell no longer being with the show:
Randy: Look, it’s definitely been interesting. He’s our friend for life. I don’t know if Steven knows him much, but Jennifer definitely knows him. We’ve all hung out together. So, listen, we definitely miss him, but it’s a different kind of vibe. It’s a different kind of energy now. And I think in season 10 the show actually really needed it.

On the show only producing three superstars – Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Chris Daughtry:
Jennifer: I don’t know that that is such a fair statement. You named three [superstars] in nine years— that’s pretty amazing, that’s 33 percent. We all know that in this business, a 1 percent chance is huge, so I think this show is doing pretty well in that arena. So with addressing that comment, what are we looking for? We’re looking for a recording artist, a pop star, someone who’s a real artist. You can tell that when they walk in, the ones that have that special thing.
