Former Child Star Billy Gilman Auditions for 'The Voice,' Gets Four Chair Turn! (Video)

Billy Gilman belts out the Adele song “When We Were Young” during his audition on The Voice, which aired on Tuesday (September 20).

The 28-year-old singer is a former child star who had big success in the country world with his debut single “One Voice,” which was a top 20 hit on the country charts. It made him the youngest singer to have a top 40 country hit!

Billy‘s debut album, which was released when he was just 12, went on to reach double platinum status.

“I started out as a young country artist and had great success,” Billy said after he got a four chair turn from the judges. “To finally be here in a moment where I can finally sing the way I so badly wanted to even then, and to finally stand here and be amongst you, it truthfully is such an honor.”

Blake Shelton knew exactly who Billy was and Miley Cyrus realized who he was a little bit later. He actually opened for her dad Billy Ray Cyrus back in the day!

Ultimately, Billy picked Adam Levine to be his coach.
