Celine Dion Set to Return to the Stage in February After Husband's Death

Celine Dion is still scheduled to perform next month.

The 47-year-old Candian singer is set to take the stage at Caesars Palace on February 23 in Las Vegas.

This, of course, comes in the wake of her husband René Angélil‘s sudden death last week.

“That’s what René would want. He wants her to perform and come back,” a source told People. “He knew her better than anybody and he probably knows that’s what she needs too, to perform.”

Celine Dion Releases Statement on Husband René Angélil's Death

Celine Dion is speaking out after the tragic loss of her husband René Angélil, who passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday (January 14).

The 47-year-old singer took to her Facebook page to share a touching tribute to her late husband.

“He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man. All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom,” part of the statement read.

The post also announced that René‘s funeral will take place at the Montreal cathedral where the couple married 21 years ago, the Notre-Dame Basilica.

There will also be a public memorial on February 3rd at Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas.

Celine Dion Cancels Concerts Following Husband René Angélil's Death

Celine Dion has cancelled her performances scheduled for this weekend following the death of her husband René Angélil, who passed away on on Thursday (January 14) after a long battle with cancer

The 47-year-old Canadian singer is in the middle of a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas but the resort announced on their website that the shows would not be happening.

“With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled…All of us at AEG and at Caesars Palace have Celine and her children in our thoughts and prayers,” Caesar’s Palace said in a statement.

Fans who purchased tickets to the events will be refunded.

Celine‘s next scheduled performance is February 23rd.

Celine Dion's Husband Rene Angelil Dead at Age 73

Sad news – Celine Dion‘s husband of 21 years, Rene Angelil, has died.

The 47-year-old Canadian singer’s longtime love and former manager was 73 years old and battled cancer for a long time.

Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning as his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” his rep told People. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time.”

Celine and Rene first met when she was 14 years old and they later married in 1994. The couple shares a son, Rene-Charles, 14, and five-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy. He is also survived by children from previous marriages, Anne-Marie, Patrick, and Jean-Pierre.

Celine Dion Can't Hold Back Tears Talking About Rene Angelil's Battle With Cancer (Video)

Celine Dion tears up while opening up about her husband Rene Angelil‘s battle with throat cancer during a recent interview with ABC News’ Deborah Roberts.

“He can’t eat, so I feed him,” the 46-year-old singer shared about her husband, who is now on a feeding tube. “I have to feed him three times a day… I do this myself.”

She added about his difficult road to recovery, “We are taking life one day at a time. [But] we are choosing to live.”

If you weren’t aware, Celine is set to return to Las Vegas to continue her residency at The Colosseum in late August this year.

Celine Dion Postpones Las Vegas Residency, Cancels Tour in Asia Due to Husband Rene Angelil's Health Issues

Celine Dion has announced that she is postponing her Las Vegas residency, cancelling her tour in Asia, and postponing her show business endeavors indefinitely due to her husband Rene Angelil‘s health issues, as well as her own personal health issues.

After having a tumor removed from his throat in December, Rene and Celine have gone through “a very difficult and stressful time.”

“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children,” Celine told People. “I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.”

Celine has also been fighting an illness that has caused inflammation in her throat muscles and has been suffering since late July.
